A new reward system driven by real staking activity
The Taoflow upgrade fundamentally replaces the previous emission model, which relied partly on token price signals. Instead, the network now tracks net staking flows into and out of each subnet in real time.
If a subnet attracts consistent staking inflows, it earns a larger share of emissions. If it experiences sustained outflows, it receives no emissions at all. The system uses a smoothing method based on a 30-day exponential moving average to reduce the impact of short-term manipulation or sudden spikes in activity.
This approach makes capital movement the primary signal of value, rather than speculation or historical price performance.
How emissions are distributed across the network
Under the updated system, approximately 0.5 TAO is emitted per block following the recent halving event. These rewards are distributed using Yuma Consensus rules, which allocate:
- 18 percent to subnet owners
- 41 percent to miners
- 41 percent to validators and stakers
The change ensures that rewards flow toward active and productive participation in the network rather than passive holding behavior.
A growing ecosystem of competing subnets
