BlackRock has made a major move in the Bitcoin market. The asset manager purchased $900 million worth of Bitcoin through its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) ETF. The transaction quickly influenced market expectations and price predictions for Bitcoin in April 2026.

The market reacts fast to institutional buying

Following the purchase, betting odds on Bitcoin reaching $80,000 in April jumped sharply. The probability moved from about 44% to 71.5% within 24 hours. Traders appear to be responding to growing institutional demand and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. These factors are shaping short-term sentiment across crypto markets.

A smaller upside target of $150,000 remains almost ignored. It holds just 0.1% probability, showing limited belief in extreme moves within the timeframe.

Liquidity shows real market participation

The $80,000 prediction market recorded strong activity. Daily volume reached over $105,000 in USDC.

Market data shows that about $25,000 in trading can shift odds by 5 percentage points. This indicates that real liquidity is driving price expectations, not just speculation. A sharp intraday move also stood out. Odds briefly jumped from 46% to 50% in under an hour before continuing higher.

In contrast, the $150,000 market remains thin. It has only a small fraction of trading activity, showing weak conviction behind that target.

Why BlackRock’s Bitcoin move matters

BlackRock’s purchase fits a wider pattern of institutional accumulation. Large investors often increase Bitcoin exposure during periods of global tension.

Current geopolitical pressure, especially in the Middle East, is also shaping market behavior. Investors are pricing in both risk and demand from major institutions.

At current pricing levels, a bet on $80,000 Bitcoin offers a potential 1.39x return if the target is reached. However, this depends on continued institutional inflows and stable macro conditions.

What to watch next

Several factors will likely guide Bitcoin’s next direction:

Each of these could strengthen or reverse current market sentiment.

Bitcoin traders are now watching whether institutional demand continues to build or slows in the coming weeks.
