Cardano Price Falls 80% but Analysts Spot Major Buying Opportunity

CARDANO IMAGE AND SOME COINS IN THE BACKGROUND

Cardano (ADA) has experienced a dramatic decline, dropping more than 80% from its December 2024 peak of $1.32. Currently trading around $0.26-$0.33, the layer-1 blockchain token has fallen to its lowest levels since October 2023, sitting roughly 90% below its all-time high of $3 from 2021. Despite the sharp drop, analysts see potential for a significant rebound.

Oversold Conditions Signal a Potential Reversal

Technical indicators suggest that ADA may have reached oversold territory. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 28, below the standard oversold threshold of 30, while the Stochastic Oscillator also indicates selling pressure may be easing. These metrics highlight that ADA could be approaching a point where buying demand may increase, potentially triggering a recovery.

Chart patterns further support this view. ADA has recently fallen to a key support level at $0.2212, marking the neckline of a head-and-shoulders pattern. Historically, this zone has held during previous cycles, and traders are closely watching for potential reversal signals. Despite the short-term trend remaining bearish, with prices below the 50-week Exponential Moving Average, oversold conditions are attracting attention from investors looking for high-risk, high-reward opportunities.

Analyst Targets Suggest Upside Potential

Crypto YouTuber and analyst Crypto Jebb sees the current price levels as an attractive entry point. According to his analysis, the risk-to-reward ratio exceeds 8:1, with price targets ranging from $1.50 to nearly $2.00 over the next 12 to 24 months. If realized, these levels would represent potential gains of over 300% from current prices. However, these projections rely primarily on chart patterns, as fresh on-chain growth or strong developer activity supporting a major rally remains limited.

Network Developments Offer Long-Term Support

Recent developments on the Cardano network could provide longer-term bullish catalysts. The CME recently launched ADA futures contracts, giving both retail and institutional investors regulated access to the token. Additionally, the Midnight zero-knowledge sidechain is set to launch later in February or March, with its native token, NIGHT, already reaching a market capitalization above $800 million.

Developers are also advancing the Leios upgrade to improve network speed and the Pentad program, which aims to bring oracles, tier-1 stablecoins, and analytics tools into the ecosystem. Pyth Network and Dune have already joined, signaling growing adoption and infrastructure expansion.

With a market capitalization of $9.4 billion, ADA remains one of the major altcoins attracting attention. Investors considering entry should carefully manage position sizes and stop levels, as the path to a recovery could be volatile but potentially rewarding.
