Chainlink Brings Coinbase Tokenized Stocks to Base DeFi

Chainlink is expanding the use of Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on Base by providing pricing data for DeFi applications. The integration could allow supported tokenized equities to serve as collateral for lending and borrowing.

The development gives tokenized stocks a broader role beyond simple trading. It also highlights how Chainlink infrastructure can connect traditional market assets with on-chain financial applications.

Chainlink Data Feeds Support Tokenized Stock Collateral

Chainlink Data Feeds provide continuous pricing information for Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on Base. The service covers tokenized equities such as NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc and GOOGLc.

Reliable pricing is important for DeFi lending protocols. These platforms need accurate asset values to determine how much users can borrow. They also rely on updated prices to monitor collateral and manage liquidations.

With this infrastructure, Coinbase Tokenized Stocks can become useful across more Base DeFi applications. Lending platforms can use eligible stocks as collateral, while other protocols can build trading and structured products around them.

Coinbase Tokenized Stocks Gain More Utility

Coinbase issues its Tokenized Stocks as B20 tokens on Base. Each token provides exposure to an underlying publicly traded U.S. equity.

The ability to use these assets as collateral adds another layer of utility. Instead of selling a tokenized stock to access funds, eligible holders could potentially deposit it into a supported lending protocol.

Users could then borrow another asset against the stock’s value, depending on the lending platform’s collateral requirements. This could give tokenized equities a role in on-chain liquidity markets.

Base has become an important environment for DeFi and tokenized assets. The addition of tokenized stocks could further expand the types of financial products available through its ecosystem.

Chainlink Connects Stocks With DeFi

The integration adds another use case for Chainlink in the growing tokenized asset market. Its infrastructure does more than bring market prices on-chain. It provides data that smart contracts can use when valuing assets.

For Base users, this creates a link between tokenized stocks and DeFi applications. Coinbase provides the tokenized equity exposure, while Chainlink supplies pricing data that protocols need to manage those assets.

The development also shows how tokenized stocks could evolve beyond trading. As more DeFi protocols support these assets, tokenized equities may become part of lending, borrowing and other on-chain financial services.
