Chainlink Data Upgrade Drives Five-Week Social Buzz Surge

CHAINLINK IMAGE

Chainlink has seen a sharp rise in social activity, even as the broader market struggles for direction. Data from Santiment shows that discussions around LINK have reached a five-week high, driven largely by renewed interest in the project’s growing role within tokenized finance.

The spike follows a significant upgrade to Chainlink’s Data Streams, a move that appears to have reignited attention from both retail traders and industry watchers.

Data Streams Upgrade Reignites Interest

The latest upgrade allows Chainlink to deliver near real-time prices for U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds, operating 24 hours a day, five days a week. This includes coverage of pre-market, regular, after-hours, and overnight trading sessions.

For decentralized finance, this is a meaningful step forward. One of the long-standing challenges in bringing traditional financial assets on-chain has been the lack of reliable, continuous pricing data. By addressing this gap, Chainlink is positioning itself as a critical bridge between traditional markets and blockchain-based applications.

As a result, LINK has become a focal point in discussions about how tokenized finance could evolve, rather than being viewed as just another altcoin reacting to Bitcoin’s price swings.

Social Volume Rises, Sentiment Turns Cautious

Santiment’s data shows that while social volume has climbed, the tone of those discussions is shifting. Over the past month, selling-focused commentary has increased relative to buying-focused mentions. Bearish sentiment is now approaching levels not seen in over a year.

This divergence highlights an important nuance. High engagement signals strong interest, but it does not necessarily translate into optimism. Many participants appear to be closely watching Chainlink’s progress while remaining cautious about short-term price performance.

On the development side, however, Chainlink continues to stand out. The project consistently ranks as the top DeFi protocol in terms of development activity, with weekly significant GitHub events trending upward since its early days.

Why Some Believe LINK Is Underrated

Despite the cautious tone online, some industry leaders argue that the market still underestimates Chainlink’s importance. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan recently described LINK as one of the most misunderstood crypto assets and said it may be deeply undervalued.

Hougan believes the common perception of Chainlink as “just a data oracle” misses the bigger picture. Instead, he views it as a fast-growing software platform that connects blockchains to real-world systems. He also pointed to its dominant position across key infrastructure services and its adoption by major institutions such as SWIFT, JPMorgan, Visa, Fidelity, and DTCC.

As tokenization continues to gain traction, Chainlink’s expanding infrastructure role may keep it firmly in the spotlight, regardless of near-term market pressure.
