- Chainlink (LINK) remains trapped in a bearish channel, trading near $12.78 despite $263M in whale accumulation and low exchange balances.
- A breakout above $13.50 could push LINK toward $14.50, while a drop below $12.60 may target the high-$11 range.
Chainlink (LINK) trades inside a narrowing bearish channel, struggling to gain strength even as large investors accumulate significant amounts of the token. While on-chain data points to growing confidence among whales, technical indicators suggest the path to a breakout remains uncertain.
LINK Price Consolidates Amid Falling Volume
As of this writing, LINK trades near $12.78, marking a slight daily gain of 0.7% but reflecting a 10% drop over the past week. Weekly and monthly losses indicate that sellers are actively defending overhead resistance. Trading volume has fallen to $541 million, down 21% from the previous day, showing muted market participation during this consolidation. Similarly, derivatives volume slipped 19% to $1.02 billion, while open interest rose 2.7% to $544 million, signaling cautious positioning rather than aggressive leverage.
Whale Accumulation Provides Support
Despite bearish price action, large investors are actively buying. The top 100 Chainlink wallets have added approximately 20.46 million LINK since early November, valued at around $263 million. Exchange balances are also at yearly lows, indicating withdrawals into self-custody and growing confidence among long-term holders. Institutional flows reinforce this trend: Grayscale’s LINK exchange-traded fund, launched in early December, has recorded only inflows, totaling $56 million to date.

Network Developments Add Confidence
Recent network partnerships further support Chainlink’s long-term outlook. Coinbase selected Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol (CCIP) as the exclusive bridge for moving wrapped assets such as cbBTC and cbETH across multiple chains. Meanwhile, Backed Finance rolled out its CCIP-powered xBridge, enabling regulated tokenized equities to transfer seamlessly across networks. These developments underscore Chainlink’s growing role in cross-chain infrastructure.
Technical Outlook
LINK remains trapped in a tightening bearish structure, with lower peaks and consistent support around $12.60–$12.70. The relative strength index hovers near neutral levels, while key moving averages remain above the price. A move above $13.50 could trigger a rally toward $14.50, but a break below $12.60 may push the token toward the high-$11 range. For now, trading remains cautious, and a decisive breakout will require increased buying pressure and participation.
Chainlink’s path forward hinges on whether whale accumulation and institutional interest can overcome persistent bearish resistance, potentially shaping the token’s next significant move.
