Ethereum Eyes $3,900 After Breaking Descending Channel with 1M ETH Staked

Ethereum (ETH) is showing renewed strength, trading at $3,142 after a breakout from a multi-month declining trend. This bullish shift comes as institutional staking continues to drain liquid supply, setting the stage for a potential surge toward the $3,900 level.

Institutional Staking Reduces Liquid Supply

BitMine Immersion Technologies recently surpassed 1 million staked ETH, adding 86,400 ETH valued at $266.3 million. The company now holds over $3.33 billion in staked Ethereum, earning $94.4 million annually at the current yield of 2.81%.

This massive staking activity signals a long-term commitment from institutional players, removing coins from circulation and compressing supply. Fewer coins available for trading can amplify upward price movements when demand returns, creating the conditions for a significant price rally.

Technical Breakout Confirms Bullish Shift

Ethereum has broken above its descending channel, establishing a higher low at $2,767 and recovering the key $3,090 pivot. The immediate resistance stands at $3,307, with the next major target at $3,909.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is now near 51, showing that buyers are regaining control after months of bearish pressure. Analysts note that breaking resistance with higher volume could trigger a more sustained upward trend.

Derivatives Market Signals Growing Volatility

ETH futures funding rates have surged 66.12% to 0.01275, reflecting increased long positions in perpetual markets. Meanwhile, liquidation data shows short positions under pressure, indicating a slow strengthening of the market base.

Liquidity clusters around $3,050–$3,100 and $3,150–$3,200 act as key levels. A breakout above these zones could reduce resistance and accelerate price gains.

Fundamental Support Strengthens Long-Term Outlook

Ethereum’s ecosystem continues to expand. Stablecoin supply on the network has grown over 65% in 2025, with total stablecoin transfers reaching $8 trillion in Q4 2024 alone. Tokenized real-world assets and active developer engagement add further support to Ethereum’s long-term value.

Social sentiment analysis indicates that ETH sentiment is at historically low levels, similar to conditions before the 2025 price surge, suggesting potential buying opportunities.

Ethereum’s Next Move

Ethereum appears to be coiling like a compressed spring. If it breaks above $3,307, the path to $3,909 could open quickly, testing the $4,000 mark. If resistance holds, ETH may consolidate between $3,050 and $3,200, solidifying gains before the next move.
