Ethereum Spot ETFs Extend 16 Day Losing Streak as Outflows Top $1.2B

Ethereum spot ETFs in the US extended their losing streak on June 2 after recording $90.14M in net outflows. This marks the 16th consecutive trading day of withdrawals and the longest streak since these products launched. Total cumulative outflows during this period have now exceeded $1.2B, showing sustained pressure on institutional demand.

BlackRock and Grayscale drive the majority of outflows

The latest figures show that selling pressure was led by major asset managers. BlackRock recorded the largest single outflow through its ETHA fund at $44.27M. Grayscale followed with $25.41M withdrawn from its Mini Ethereum Trust and an additional $3.87M from its ETHE fund.

Fidelity also saw $15.63M in outflows from its FETH product. BlackRock’s ETHB staking product recorded a smaller exit of $960K, adding to the broad-based nature of the withdrawals.

Weak price action continues to weigh on sentiment

Ethereum has been trading in a tight range between $3.2K and $3.5K over the past month. This lack of clear direction has reduced investor confidence and encouraged profit-taking from earlier ETF entrants.

Market participants also point to uncertainty around upcoming Ethereum network upgrades as a factor limiting new inflows. Without stronger price movement or clearer catalysts, institutional appetite has remained subdued.

Regulatory uncertainty adds further pressure

Regulation remains a key concern for investors. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has not yet approved staking features for most Ethereum ETFs, limiting their competitiveness compared to direct holdings or offshore alternatives.

There is also an ongoing debate around the classification of certain Ethereum transactions, which continues to make some institutional investors more cautious.

Ethereum ETFs lag behind Bitcoin demand

Ethereum ETFs continue to underperform compared to Bitcoin-based funds. While Ethereum products have faced consistent outflows, Bitcoin ETFs have generally maintained stronger inflows over the same period.

This divergence suggests that institutions currently view Bitcoin as a more stable store of value, while Ethereum is still treated as a higher-risk exposure tied to ecosystem growth and network development.

Outlook remains dependent on catalysts

The 16-day outflow streak highlights a cautious stance among institutional investors. Future flow trends will likely depend on regulatory clarity, progress on Ethereum upgrades, and broader improvements in market conditions.

Until stronger catalysts emerge, Ethereum spot ETFs may continue to experience pressure as investors remain selective with digital asset exposure.
