IOTA has announced that the MasterZ (@masterz87148) × IOTA Hackathon has reached the Build Now Contest stage.
According to the update shared on IOTA’s official X account, participating teams have submitted:
- Product concepts
- System architectures
- Technical stacks
All submissions are built on the IOTA network.

- Real-World Assets (RWA) & Traditional Finance (TradFi)
- Data Integrity & Privacy

The MasterZ × IOTA Hackathon has brought together teams from across Europe to develop new products and MVPs on decentralized infrastructure powered by IOTA.
Participants moved from structured learning into hands-on development, receiving training in the smart contract language that supports IOTA’s programmable layer. The program is designed to guide builders from technical onboarding to practical product design.
The hackathon has now reached the Build Now Contest stage, where teams submitted their product concepts, system architectures, and technical stacks. A total of 63 teams participated in this phase.
Projects integrate IOTA components such as Digital Identity, notarization, hierarchies, and tokenization into early product iterations. While development remains ongoing, clear thematic clusters have emerged across several sectors.
Trade & Supply Chain
A majority of participating teams are focused on trade infrastructure, supply chain coordination, and compliance workflows. These projects examine how decentralized infrastructure can support cross-border documentation, provenance tracking, tokenized assets, and financial coordination.

These projects range from digital product passports and freight coordination layers to agricultural traceability, compliance tooling, and settlement systems
RWA & Traditional Finance
A focused group of teams is working at the intersection of real-world asset tokenization and traditional financial infrastructure. These concepts explore programmable settlement, tokenized credit structures, and digital marketplaces for previously illiquid assets.
Projects in this category include:
GiftBlitz, NPLEX, Flexi, Slice, and S9R.
Data Integrity & Privacy
Several teams are building solutions centered on notarization, decentralized identity, cryptographic verification, and privacy-preserving data sharing. Rather than storing sensitive information directly on-chain, many projects rely on selective disclosure and verifiable anchoring.
Projects include:
IOTA OLT Monitor, Authentix Portal, VitalNode, IOTA Identity Manager, MediaIntegrity, DataMint, Gigi, Blue Alert, TangleGate, TrustPass IOTA, and RouteID.
Reputation Systems
A dedicated set of teams is addressing portable, verifiable reputation systems using decentralized identity and attestations.
Projects include:
TrustCycle, Freelancer Reputation Passport, Vanity.box, and Konnectify.
Infrastructure
Some teams are focused on foundational infrastructure, including middleware, interoperability layers, and system-level coordination frameworks.
Projects include:
Synap, NOTIA, SmartLegacy, Dead Man’s Switch, HostShield, and AutoPark.
AI Integration
A smaller group is experimenting with AI systems interacting with decentralized data and identity layers.
Projects include:
IOTA Web Guardian and SentinelAI.
Next Steps
The March 31 submission deadline marks the next transition point. Following evaluation, the top five projects will present at a private event in Berlin before MasterZ and IOTA. The top ten teams will enter an acceleration program powered by AIO Blockchain Lab, while the top thirty projects will be listed on a public leaderboard to facilitate ecosystem visibility.
Alecos Colombo, CEO of MasterZ, stated that the quality of submissions indicates teams are progressing beyond initial ideas toward structured product development.
Richard Mands, Head of Developer Relations at the IOTA Foundation, noted that submissions demonstrate substantial architectural depth and integration with IOTA’s infrastructure.
