IOTA Partners with Bolt.Earth to Tokenize EV Charging Worldwide

Iota in space

The IOTA network is entering a new era of real-world utility through its latest partnership with Bolt.Earth, India’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging provider. Together, they are using blockchain technology to create a decentralized and tokenized EV charging infrastructure across Malaysia and the United Kingdom, marking a major step into the RealFi (Real Finance) space.

Bolt.Earth Expands Beyond India with IOTA Integration

Founded in 2017, Bolt.Earth operates over 100,000 charging stations in more than 1,800 cities and controls 63% of India’s private EV charging market. The company serves over 307,000 active users, offering both fast and standard charging solutions for two, three, and four-wheeled EVs.

Now, Bolt.Earth is extending its reach globally, launching pilot testnet sites in Malaysia and the UK. In Malaysia, the project features EV charging stations at Eco Majestic, Mount Austin, and Majestic Labs. These sites mark the beginning of Bolt.Earth’s RealFi expansion outside India. In the United Kingdom, Nottingham becomes the company’s first European pilot location. Each charging station is registered and tokenized on-chain using IOTA’s Rebased Move VM. This process highlights IOTA’s strength in managing real-world assets securely through blockchain technology.

Why IOTA Fits the EV Charging Model Perfectly

Electric vehicle charging requires managing millions of microtransactions, such as small payments per kilowatt-hour. Traditional blockchains like Bitcoin or Ethereum can be too slow or costly for these frequent, low-value transactions.

IOTA’s Tangle technology, however, enables parallel processing, allowing thousands of transactions to be confirmed instantly and without fees. This ensures smooth billing, instant confirmations, and real-time accounting—ideal for high-volume charging networks.

Furthermore, IOTA’s Ethereum-compatible EVM enables developers to deploy smart contracts for dynamic pricing, scheduling, energy trading, and even vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interactions. Its mining-free and energy-efficient nature aligns with the sustainability goals of electric mobility.

A Step Toward RealFi Adoption

By integrating blockchain-based automation with real-world energy infrastructure, IOTA and Bolt.Earth are turning the concept of RealFi into a practical reality. The IOTA EVM has already processed over 15.6 million transactions, proving its scalability.

This collaboration also follows IOTA’s recent integration with Turnkey, a private key management platform enhancing transaction automation and wallet security—further strengthening IOTA’s ecosystem for developers and enterprises.

With this partnership, IOTA not only supports greener transport solutions but also establishes itself as a cornerstone for the next generation of decentralized, real-world applications.
