- Ondo Finance has launched the Ondo Network, replacing its planned blockchain with a faster execution layer for private, non-custodial trading.
- The new platform debuts with Ondo Perps and follows recent FINRA approvals that support its U.S. tokenized securities strategy.
Ondo Finance has introduced the Ondo Network, a new execution layer designed to deliver centralized exchange-level trading speeds while maintaining self-custody and blockchain settlement. The launch marks a major shift in the company’s strategy as it moves beyond its previously planned Ondo Chain.
The new infrastructure aims to solve one of the biggest challenges facing decentralized trading: slow execution speeds. It also arrives shortly after Ondo secured new U.S. regulatory approvals through its Oasis Pro subsidiary, strengthening its long-term expansion plans.
Ondo Finance Replaces Ondo Chain With Ondo Network
Ondo Finance officially launched the Ondo Network on July 27, replacing its earlier vision for Ondo Chain. Instead of building a traditional Layer 1 blockchain, the company has developed an execution layer focused on fast, private, and non-custodial trading.

Fast and private like a CEX. Verifiable like a blockchain. Non-custodial in design.

According to Ondo Finance CEO Ian De Bode, the change came after discussions with users and while developing Ondo Perps. Those conversations revealed that trade execution speed was a bigger obstacle than blockchain settlement.
Unlike traditional blockchains that execute, verify, and settle every transaction on a public ledger, the Ondo Network separates execution from settlement. Trades are processed privately, while the final asset transfers are still completed on public blockchains.
This approach allows traders to benefit from faster order execution without giving up transparency during settlement.
Private Execution Powered by Secure Technology
The Ondo Network uses trusted execution environments, also known as secure hardware enclaves. These secure environments process trades without exposing sensitive information such as open positions or order flow.
A decentralized group of attestors verifies the software running inside these enclaves. This prevents any single party from approving unauthorized code or gaining control of user assets.
Currently, all asset transfers settle on Ethereum, although Ondo Finance plans to expand support to additional public blockchains. The company also intends to strengthen decentralization by adding more attestors, independent watchers, and advanced cryptographic verification over time.
ONDO will continue to power governance and incentive mechanisms as the network becomes more decentralized.
Ondo Perps Becomes the First Live Application
The first application running on the Ondo Network is Ondo Perps, a platform offering 24/7 perpetual futures linked to equities and commodities.
The platform allows users to trade with up to 20x leverage in selected markets while using tokenized real-world assets as collateral. Since perpetual futures have no expiration date, traders can keep positions open as long as margin requirements are met.
Ondo Perps launched earlier this month for users outside the United States. The platform showcases how the Ondo Network combines private execution, self-custody, and blockchain settlement into a single trading experience.
Despite the network launch, ONDO’s current role remains unchanged. It continues to function as the governance and ecosystem token across Ondo’s real-world asset platform.
FINRA Approvals Strengthen U.S. Expansion
The launch also follows recent regulatory progress in the United States.
Oasis Pro Markets, Ondo Finance’s SEC-registered broker-dealer subsidiary, recently received new FINRA authorizations covering National Market System stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, index funds, and initial public offerings.
These approvals create regulated infrastructure for tokenized securities that can settle using either fiat currencies or selected stablecoins. They also open the door for eligible retail and institutional investors to access tokenized securities through traditional brokerage accounts.
However, the approvals do not automatically make Ondo Perps available to U.S. investors. Individual products must still meet separate regulatory and compliance requirements before they can be offered in the country.
What the Launch Means for Ondo Finance
The Ondo Network represents an important shift in Ondo Finance’s strategy. Rather than competing as another Layer 1 blockchain, the company is focusing on solving execution speed while preserving decentralization and self-custody.
By separating trade execution from settlement, Ondo aims to deliver a trading experience that feels similar to centralized exchanges without requiring users to surrender control of their assets. If successful, the new architecture could support a wider range of financial products beyond perpetual futures, including lending, spot trading, and other tokenized asset markets.
