- Ondo Finance has partnered with SBI Group to bring Japanese equities on-chain and expand access to tokenized assets through SBI’s ecosystem.
- The partnership will also use SBI’s JPYSC stablecoin for on-chain settlement and collateral.
Ondo Finance has partnered with Japan’s financial giant SBI Group to accelerate the adoption of tokenized real-world assets by bringing Japanese equities on-chain. The collaboration aims to connect Japan’s capital markets with blockchain technology while expanding investor access to tokenized financial products.
The agreement also strengthens Ondo Finance’s presence in Asia, where demand for blockchain-based financial infrastructure continues to grow.
Ondo and SBI Expand Tokenized Asset Access
As part of the partnership, Ondo Finance and SBI Group will work together to tokenize Japanese financial assets and distribute them through SBI’s extensive ecosystem. The initiative is expected to give millions of Japanese investors access to Ondo’s tokenized products while opening Japanese equities to a broader global audience.
Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited will issue the tokenized instruments under the new framework. The companies believe the move will help bridge traditional finance and blockchain by making regulated financial assets available on-chain.
The partnership also includes cross-promotion of products and services through each company’s customer networks and strategic partners.
JPYSC Stablecoin to Power Onchain Settlement
Another key part of the agreement involves SBI Group’s JPYSC stablecoin. The partners plan to use the yen-backed stablecoin for on-chain settlement and as collateral for Ondo’s tokenized assets.
Using a stablecoin tied to the Japanese yen could simplify transactions while improving efficiency in tokenized financial markets. It also supports the development of yen-denominated settlement infrastructure on blockchain networks.
The companies see this as an important step toward creating a more seamless digital asset ecosystem that combines traditional financial markets with blockchain technology.
Building a Global Tokenized Economy
Ondo Finance CEO Ian De Bode said Japan is one of the world’s most advanced capital markets, making SBI Group an ideal partner for expanding tokenized assets. He noted that the collaboration creates a pathway to bring Japanese assets on-chain while connecting the country to the global tokenized economy.
SBI Holdings Chairman and CEO Yoshitaka Kitao described Ondo Finance as a global leader in real-world asset tokenization and tokenized equities. He said the company expects Ondo to become a key strategic partner as SBI develops a global digital asset corridor.
By combining SBI Group’s financial network with Ondo’s tokenization technology, the companies aim to expand worldwide access to Japanese assets while supporting the broader adoption of blockchain-based financial products.
As interest in tokenized securities continues to grow, the partnership positions both firms to play a larger role in the next phase of digital finance, where traditional assets can move more efficiently across blockchain networks.
