Pi Network Introduces Passkey Login and Lockup Boosts for Safer Mining

Pi Network has introduced a major security update with the launch of Passkey, a cutting-edge passwordless login method, while also reminding users of the benefits of locking up tokens to increase mining rewards. These changes aim to both enhance user safety and promote deeper engagement in the ecosystem.

Pi Network Passkey Adds Biometric Protection

Pi Network’s verification system has long been a point of contention, with many users frustrated by delays and unclear requirements. In response, the Core Team has added Passkey to the Pi Wallet—positioned right below traditional ID verification and password settings.

Passkey allows users to access their wallets using biometric authentication (like fingerprints or facial recognition) or a secure device PIN, removing the need for a typed password. This method is unique to each user and device, reducing the risk of phishing attacks, stolen passwords, and account takeovers. It not only simplifies the login process but also introduces a new layer of digital security across the network.

Lockup Incentives Revisited

In a separate community update, Pi Network’s Core Team highlighted the importance of Lockups—voluntary token holdings that can significantly boost users’ mining rewards.

Users can choose pre-migration lockups to influence future balances before moving to the mainnet, or post-migration lockups for tokens already migrated. Both types offer mining boosts, but post-migration lockups now feature a 200% boost option, encouraging users to lock up even the Pi they earned beyond standard mining.

These lockups are executed through the Pi Wallet and are part of the team’s strategy to build a stable ecosystem while rewarding long-term participation. According to the update, lockups not only strengthen the network but also play a pivotal role in sustaining token value and network health.

By merging advanced security with community-driven mining rewards, Pi Network is evolving toward a more secure and active platform. Passkey offers a user-friendly yet highly secure login experience, while Lockups give Pioneers a chance to increase rewards and show their commitment to the project’s future.
