Pi Network Launches New App Studio Pricing Model as $0.09 Support Holds

  • Pi Network has launched a new App Studio pricing model that ties developer fees more closely to AI resource usage.
  • Apps with strong user activity can still qualify for the previous subsidized rates, while PI continues to struggle around $0.09.

Pi Network has introduced a new pricing model for its AI-powered App Studio. The change took effect on August 24 and shifts more app creation costs toward developers.

The update ends the broad subsidies that previously kept App Studio fees low for all creators. Pi Network says the new approach will direct more resources toward applications that show real user activity.

Pi Network Replaces Fixed App Studio Fees

Previously, developers paid 0.25 PI to create an application and another 0.25 PI to edit one. Pi Network said these fees did not reflect the actual cost of the AI services used by App Studio.

During the platform’s early period, the Core Team covered much of the difference. The team has now changed that approach after collecting more data on how Pioneers use App Studio.

Under the new model, fees will be based more closely on the AI resources required for each operation. As a result, developers may no longer pay the same fixed amount for every creation or edit.

Pi Network also said it will not add an extra markup to the underlying AI costs.

Some Developers Can Still Pay Lower Fees

The new pricing model does not apply equally to every developer. Applications that attract enough real and distinct users can continue using the previous subsidized rates. Pi Network will initially use existing App Studio data to identify qualifying applications.

However, eligibility is not permanent. Developers who do not qualify at first can regain access to the lower rates if their applications begin attracting meaningful usage. Pi Network also noted that the criteria for qualifying could change over time.

Pi Network Wants More Useful Apps

The pricing change is designed to reduce spending on applications that receive little or no real usage. Pi Network said the previous model could allow resources to be used on experiments, tests, or spam applications.

The revised system instead creates a stronger incentive for developers to build apps that attract users and provide practical value within the Pi ecosystem.

This could also make user activity a more important factor for developers looking to keep their App Studio costs low.

PI Price Remains Under Pressure

The App Studio update arrives as Pi Network’s native token continues to lag behind the broader crypto market.

Bitcoin and several major altcoins have posted strong gains over the past week. PI, however, has struggled to follow the wider market move and is currently fighting to hold the $0.09 level.

The new App Studio pricing model therefore gives Pi Network another important development to watch. Its impact may depend on whether the changes encourage developers to create applications that attract sustained user activity.

For Pioneers, the key takeaway is simple: App Studio fees are no longer broadly subsidized, but apps with genuine user demand can still qualify for the lower rates.
