Pi Network Maps 50 Million $PI Tokens
On September 17–18, 2025, Pi Network mapped 50 million $PI to the mainnet. The event saw 8.14 trillion $PI migrated, with 5.06 trillion locked and 3.07 trillion unlocked. This batch release strategy is designed to avoid sudden selling pressure that could destabilize the price. By gradually releasing tokens, the team aims to encourage long-term holding rather than quick sell-offs at low prices.
Despite the achievement, the mapping process was paused just hours later. The sudden halt raised questions, with some speculating it was due to technical checks, while others suggested it might have been a strategic decision to manage supply more cautiously.
Price Reaction and Forecasts
The news lifted Pi’s price to around ₹54–₹56 ($0.64), nearly double its previous trading range of $0.34–$0.36. While forecasts remain mixed, some analysts project Pi could reach $0.75–$1.20 by 2026, and even $5–$9 by 2027 if adoption grows and ecosystem applications expand.
However, without major exchange listings, liquidity remains limited. Holders continue to face difficulties in selling or redeeming their tokens, which may slow down wider adoption.
Security Concerns Surface
Amid the positive outlook, security concerns emerged after reports of 601 $PI being stolen from a user’s account. The incident highlights the need for stronger wallet protections as the network grows. For Pi to gain mainstream trust, robust safeguards must be implemented to protect user assets.
The Pi Core Team has confirmed that all mined tokens will eventually be mapped, though the process will occur in multiple rounds. While mapping is a significant step, Pi’s long-term success depends on more than supply mechanics. Building real-world apps, services, and achieving exchange listings will be crucial for sustaining value and community confidence.
