Pi Network has announced a partnership with Open Standard, the company behind the newly launched Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin. The move could bring new stablecoin utility and potential rewards to Pi Network users, although the details of the plan remain unclear.
Pi Network Partners With Open Standard
The Pi Network Core Team announced its collaboration with Open Standard on X shortly after OUSD went live on September 30.

OUSD is a dollar-pegged stablecoin designed for use across payments and financial applications. The project has backing from major companies, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Coinbase.
The stablecoin is currently available on Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo. OUSD has also launched through platforms such as Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap.
For Pi Network, the partnership could open another path toward expanding the network’s use beyond simple Pi transfers.
OUSD Could Bring New Utility to Pi Network
Open Standard has expanded significantly since the project began attracting attention earlier this year. The company now says its network includes more than 200 financial institutions, fintech companies, banks, and global businesses.
Its founding partners include Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase, and Shopify. These companies have committed more than $1 billion in near-term launch liquidity, according to Open Standard.
OUSD is issued by Stripe’s Bridge, while its reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY Mellon.
The scale of the project makes the partnership notable for the Pi community. However, Pi Network has not provided enough information to confirm how deeply OUSD will be integrated into its ecosystem.
Could Pi Pioneers Receive OUSD Rewards?
One of the most interesting aspects of the partnership involves Open Standard’s reward model. Partners can potentially earn rewards based on the amount of OUSD supplied and the activity generated through their platforms. They may also become eligible for equity in Open Standard.
This has raised speculation about whether similar rewards could eventually reach Pi Network’s Pioneers. However, Pi Network has not confirmed a specific Pioneer rewards program. It has not announced eligibility requirements, reward amounts, or a launch date.
The partnership also does not confirm that OUSD will become a native stablecoin on the Pi blockchain. For now, Pi Network has only indicated that it and Open Standard are exploring ways to bring OUSD-related rewards and additional utility to its user ecosystem.
What the Partnership Means for Pi Network
The collaboration comes as Pi Network continues to expand the practical uses of its ecosystem.
Adding stablecoin-related utility could give users and developers more ways to interact with financial applications. It could also create additional activity around payments and other services if the partnership eventually leads to a broader integration.
Still, the current announcement provides few technical details. Any claims about OUSD launching directly on Pi Network or Pioneers receiving stablecoin rewards remain unconfirmed.
For now, the partnership signals an area of development worth watching. More details from Pi Network and Open Standard will be needed to determine exactly how OUSD could be used within the Pi ecosystem.
