  • The Pi Network .pi Domains Auction ended, letting Pioneers secure domains for real use.
  • Winners must meet usage requirements to claim and maintain them.

The Pi Network has reached a significant milestone with the conclusion of its .pi Domains Auction on September 30, 2025. This event represents a key step in expanding the Pi ecosystem, offering Pioneers unique opportunities to secure platform-level utility domains while ensuring these digital assets are used for meaningful online applications and commerce.

Pi Network Auction Closure and Fair Bidding

All domain auctions officially ended on September 30. However, the Pi Network implemented a rolling extension mechanism: if a domain received a bid in the final 24 hours, the bidding window extended by 24 hours. Each new bid in the extension triggered another 24-hour window, maintaining fairness and allowing active Pioneers to compete fully for their desired domains. Once this phase concluded, winning bids were secured, setting the stage for the next step: claiming the domains.

Claiming Domains: Structured and Purposeful

After the auctions, a two-month data review period will validate auction results and prepare for the domain claim process. Eligible winners will then begin claiming their domains, with requirements designed to prevent malicious hoarding and ensure genuine usage.

To claim a .pi domain, winners must:

  • Connect a Pi app to the domain.
  • Ensure the connected app achieves a minimum threshold of organic usage.
  • Provide supporting details for commercial or application use, such as linking store websites, wallets, and descriptions of the domain’s purpose.

Pioneers will have up to one year from the start of the claiming process to meet these requirements. While criteria may adjust in the future, the focus remains on connecting domains to real applications, merchants, and projects that contribute to the ecosystem.

Renewals and Long-Term Safeguards

Pioneers must renew their domains one year after claims begin, just like traditional domain registrations. Renewals will consider utility and activity, such as app engagement or wallet transaction volume, to prevent domain squatting and ensure domains remain actively useful.

Pi Network Prioritizing Real-World Utility

Initially, the claiming process will focus on three groups: developers building apps, applications gaining traction via Pi App Studio, and merchants seeking an online presence. This prioritization reinforces Pi’s goal of creating meaningful, functional, and sustainable digital resources for Pioneers.

By carefully structuring the claim and renewal process, Pi Network strengthens its ecosystem, empowering Pioneers to build, connect, and transact with confidence. The .pi domains are more than digital assets—they are tools to drive innovation and utility within the Pi Network community.
