Pi Network Pre-Migration vs Post-Migration Lockups Guide

  • Pi Network allows pioneers to boost their mining rates by creating Lockups before or after migrating to the Mainnet.
  • Lockups increase rewards by locking Pi tokens, with post-migration Lockups offering a special 200% lockup option.

Pi Network pioneers now have a powerful way to increase their mining rates—by creating Lockups. Whether you have migrated your Pi to the Mainnet or not, voluntarily locking up your Pi can give your mining a significant boost. Here’s everything you need to understand about pre-migration and post-migration Lockups and how they can benefit you.

What Are Pi Network Lockups and How Do They Work?

Lockups are a mechanism that allows Pi holders to “lock” a portion of their Pi tokens in exchange for a higher mining rate. This incentive encourages long-term commitment to the Pi Network, fostering a stable and robust ecosystem. Once you set a Lockup, you cannot reverse it, and the mining boost takes effect in the next mining session.

Pre-Migration vs Post-Migration Lockups: Key Differences

  • Pre-Migration Lockups apply to Pi before it moves onto the Mainnet blockchain. Setting this lockup boosts your current Pi balance and influences the amount that migrates later. You can configure pre-migration Lockups directly through the Pi mining app by tapping the ☰ icon, selecting “Mainnet,” then “Configure Lockup Rate.”
  • Post-Migration Lockups involve locking up Pi that already resides on the Mainnet blockchain. This process is done via the Pi Wallet in the Pi Browser by tapping the “Lockups” button within your Mainnet wallet. Post-migration Lockups lock your Pi directly on the blockchain after you confirm the action.

Both types of Lockups follow the same reward calculations and are irreversible once set, but they affect different portions of your Pi holdings and happen at different stages.

The Advantage of 200% Lockups in Post-Migration

An exciting feature unique to post-migration Lockups is the ability to lock up 200% of your currently migrated Pi. This means you can lock up double the amount of Pi you hold on the Mainnet, including any additional Pi earned through apps or local commerce. This significantly maximizes your mining rewards, offering pioneers more ways to grow their Pi holdings.

How to Get Started

  • For Pre-Migration: Open your Pi mining app > ☰ icon > Mainnet > Configure Lockup Rate.
  • For Post-Migration: Open Pi Browser > Mainnet Wallet > Tap “Lockups” > Follow instructions to lock your Pi.

By taking advantage of Lockups, pioneers not only enhance their mining rates but also contribute to the network’s stability and long-term success. Whether you’re early in the migration process or already on the Mainnet, Lockups provide an opportunity to boost your Pi earnings and stay engaged with the Pi community.

If you’re serious about maximizing your Pi mining potential, now is the time to explore Lockups and lock in those rewards for a stronger mining future.
