Pi Network Prepares for Major Mainnet Upgrade in 2025

The Pi Network is edging toward a long-awaited milestone — the full rollout of Protocol 23, marking its most significant technical advancement since the project began. After weeks of intensive testing, developers report notable improvements in scalability and transaction speed, paving the way for a potential mainnet deployment before the end of 2025.

Early testnet data indicates smoother block validation and faster confirmations, supported by a stronger infrastructure built to handle decentralized applications. These upgrades position Pi Network to compete more directly with established platforms like Stellar, whose architecture heavily influences the new framework.

Inside Protocol 23 and What It Means for Users

Protocol 23 is powered by Stellar Core v23.0.1, a system optimized to manage high transaction volumes without sacrificing security. It introduces more advanced tools that allow developers to simulate mainnet conditions, ensuring stability and precision before final rollout.

Industry analyst Dr. Altcoin noted that Pi’s team continues to prioritize accuracy over speed. He explained that after the current testnet phase, a secondary testing period—Testnet 2—will commence before the network transitions to the mainnet. This cautious approach, he added, ensures long-term sustainability over quick market wins.

DeFi Testing Expands Pi Network’s Ecosystem

Alongside the core protocol upgrade, Pi Network’s developers have launched new components within the testnet environment: a decentralized exchange (DEX) and an automated market maker (AMM). These additions allow users to explore token trading and liquidity management, marking Pi’s first step into decentralized finance (DeFi).

While the technology evolves, Pi’s price has faced challenges. The token has remained near $0.23, with daily trading volumes dropping below $30 million. Dr. Altcoin has suggested introducing token burns or buybacks to improve liquidity and rebuild investor confidence.

A Slow but Steady Path Toward Growth

Despite losing almost 90% of its market value and falling out of the top 50 cryptocurrencies, analysts remain optimistic. The combination of Protocol 23, DeFi integration, and deliberate development could set the stage for a recovery by late 2025 or early 2026.

In a market often driven by hype, Pi Network’s patient, methodical progress may ultimately prove to be its greatest strength.
