- Ripple and C2FO are using RLUSD and XRP Ledger to speed up supplier payments.
- The service will launch in the U.S. through a limited rollout.
Ripple and C2FO are working to speed up business payments by bringing invoice financing and settlement to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The initiative will use Ripple USD (RLUSD), Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, to help suppliers receive approved early payments faster instead of waiting for traditional bank transfers to clear.
Announced on October 27 at Ripple Swell in New York, the partnership will bring C2FO’s Instant Pay service onto the XRP Ledger. Ripple says transactions on the network can settle in three to five seconds, while suppliers are expected to receive funds in their bank accounts within minutes after an invoice is approved for early payment.
XRP Ledger Aims to Cut Invoice Payment Delays
Many businesses operate under payment terms of 30, 60, or 90 days after delivering goods or services. These delays can leave suppliers short of cash needed to pay employees, purchase inventory, and fulfill new orders.
Early invoice payments offer a way to access funds sooner, but traditional banking processes can still slow down the transfer, even after financing has been approved.
The Ripple and C2FO initiative aims to address this problem by moving settlement onto the XRP Ledger. With RLUSD serving as the settlement asset, the companies expect to reduce the time businesses spend waiting for approved payments.
C2FO President and Chief Operating Officer for the Americas, Ragui Selwanes, said the partnership could broaden access to capital while preserving the customer relationships and experience businesses already trust.
How C2FO Instant Pay Will Work
The service will allow businesses to continue requesting early invoice payments through C2FO’s existing platform. Participating capital providers will supply the funds, while the XRP Ledger will handle settlement.
Under C2FO’s current early-payment process, suppliers select eligible invoices and offer a discount in exchange for receiving the money before the original due date.
The new arrangement will preserve existing invoice terms and payment due dates. It is designed to help suppliers access cash sooner without requiring changes to their established business relationships.
Businesses will continue using their existing C2FO login. They will need to complete a one-time setup to connect a bank account and confirm remittance details.
RLUSD Supports Faster Commercial Payments
RLUSD will play a central role in the initiative by providing a dollar-linked asset for settlement. Its use on the XRP Ledger extends the stablecoin’s role beyond holding value to facilitating commercial transactions.
The XRP Ledger operates around the clock, allowing payments to settle outside conventional banking hours. Ripple also says transaction fees are a fraction of a cent, potentially making the network suitable for businesses seeking faster and lower-cost settlement.
However, the blockchain settlement time and the time required for funds to reach a supplier’s bank account are different. While XRPL transactions can settle in seconds, the complete payment process is expected to take several minutes.
The service will initially be available only in the United States. C2FO plans to expand access through a limited rollout over the coming months, with businesses able to join a waitlist.
Ripple Expands RLUSD Into Business Finance
The C2FO partnership is part of Ripple’s broader effort to expand RLUSD’s use in commercial payments and financial services.
On October 22, payment financing provider Arf announced a related initiative using RLUSD to provide short-term liquidity to licensed payment companies awaiting cross-border settlements. While that arrangement focuses on payment providers, the C2FO partnership targets businesses seeking early payment for approved invoices.
Ripple Treasury also introduced an offering on October 26 that targets eligible corporate RLUSD holdings. The program is designed to provide returns on qualifying balances held overnight, over weekends, and during holidays, subject to its requirements.
These initiatives highlight how Ripple is pursuing business uses for RLUSD across payment settlement, working capital financing, and corporate treasury management.
Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX, said the partnership with C2FO could address billions of dollars in commercial activity by making approved receivables easier to finance.
What the Partnership Means for XRP Ledger Adoption
Bringing invoice financing to the XRP Ledger could give businesses another reason to use blockchain infrastructure for everyday financial operations. Faster settlement may help suppliers access working capital sooner, while RLUSD provides a dollar-linked asset for moving funds.
The initiative also demonstrates how stablecoins can support payment processes beyond cryptocurrency trading. If adoption grows after the initial U.S. rollout, the service could provide a model for using blockchain settlement to address delays in business payments.
For now, availability remains limited, and broader adoption will depend on the rollout and participation of businesses and capital providers. The partnership nevertheless marks another step toward using the XRP Ledger for real-world commercial payments.
