XRP’s price may be headed for short-term weakness as Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen continues to take profits near local highs, raising concerns among traders about renewed selling pressure.
😱 Chris Larsen (Ripple co-founder) has realized $764,209,610.42 (!!) in profits since January 2018.
Yes, the latest sale is tied to EvernorthXRP. But this isn’t an isolated event.
Larsen has a recurring habit of cashing out near local highs.

Currently, XRP is trading around $2.3, about 34% below its July peak of $3.66. According to CryptoQuant analyst Maartunn, Larsen’s realized profits from XRP sales over the past seven years have now reached $764.2 million, a figure that has sparked debate within the crypto community about insider activity and timing.

Large Transfers Spark Speculation
On October 20, Maartunn reported a transfer of 50 million XRP worth $120 million, suggesting Larsen was preparing for another sell-off. Interestingly, XRP’s price briefly climbed to $2.53 that day before retreating. Larsen later clarified that the transfer was connected to an investment in Evernorth’s treasury, not a direct sale.
However, the analyst emphasized that this may have been an isolated event, adding that Larsen has a history of selling near market highs. “Larsen has a well-established habit of exiting positions near local peaks,” Maartunn noted.
History of Strategic Selling
Analyst Coby Vu detailed Larsen’s sales over the years:
- 2018: Sold 200 million XRP at around $3.84, earning roughly $500 million.
- 2021: Sold 500 million XRP at about $1.96, generating $1 billion.
- 2025: Transferred 50 million XRP to Evernorth at around $2.5.
These transactions show that nearly 80% of Larsen’s realized profits come from trades made within 10% of XRP’s cycle highs — a remarkable pattern of timing.
Community Concerns and Market Impact
With Larsen still holding approximately 2.5 billion XRP, representing 8% of the total supply, investors worry that continued sell-offs could weigh on the asset’s price. The community has previously accused him of “dumping” XRP, especially after a $140 million transfer to Coinbase in July when the token was near its high.
While Larsen maintains his actions are legitimate business moves, traders remain cautious. The prospect of large holders selling near peaks continues to fuel skepticism — and could add downward pressure to XRP in the coming weeks.
