Ripple is expanding its operations in Brazil and plans to apply for a VASP license with the Central Bank. Major Brazilian institutions are already using their payment platforms and stablecoin solutions to manage liquidity and cross-border transactions.

Ripple’s Brazil Strategy Goes Beyond Payments

The application for a VASP license aligns with Brazil’s updated virtual asset regulations. Ripple President Monica Long emphasized that the company has spent over a decade building the trust and technology needed to operate in regulated markets.

“Latin America has always been a priority market for Ripple, not just because of the scale of the opportunity, but because Brazil has one of the most advanced financial ecosystems in the world,” Long said.

Institutional Adoption Driving Growth

Ripple Payments has already processed over $100 billion globally, serving more than 60 markets. In Brazil, several major institutions are leveraging Ripple to streamline payments and liquidity management:

The platform’s capabilities now cover cross-border payments, digital asset custody, prime brokerage, and treasury management, making it a comprehensive solution for institutional clients in the region.

Bringing Bank-Grade Custody to Brazil

Alongside payments, Ripple is introducing its custody solution in Brazil. Ripple Custody provides real-time compliance controls, bank-level security, and integrates with transaction monitoring tools like Chainalysis and Elliptic.

The adoption of Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, is also growing across Latin America. Leading exchanges and financial institutions such as Mercado Bitcoin, Foxbit, Braza Bank, Banco Genial, and Attrus are already listing and supporting the stablecoin.

Global Expansion Beyond Brazil

Ripple’s regulatory ambitions are not limited to Brazil. The company is also pursuing an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) as part of its global expansion, signaling its commitment to regulated growth in key international markets.

With institutional adoption increasing and regulatory approvals underway, Ripple is positioning itself as a central player in the evolving digital asset landscape across Latin America and beyond.
