- The card supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, with a physical version and U.S. expansion planned.
Sui, has officially entered the real-world payments space with the launch of a virtual Mastercard for European users. Developed in collaboration with xMoney and xPortal, this move is a major step toward making cryptocurrency usable for everyday transactions across the continent.
A Virtual Card With Real-World Reach
Sui has integrated its virtual Mastercard into the xPortal app, letting users manage and spend crypto easily. They can add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay to pay at over 20,000 EU merchants. Sui plans to roll out a physical version of the card in 2025.
The solution combines xMoney’s regulatory setup with xPortal’s wallet, balancing compliance and convenience for self-custody payments.
“This powerful new product is a significant step towards making the Sui ecosystem more accessible to everyday consumers,” said Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation.
Building a Bridge Between Crypto and Traditional Finance
The initiative is targeting xPortal’s user base of over 2.5 million users, aiming to bring blockchain finance to the mainstream. Sui becomes one of the few Layer 1 networks enabling compliant real-world payments amid growing EU regulatory clarity.
xPortal CEO Sergiu Biris highlighted Sui’s developer strength and ecosystem maturity as key reasons for the partnership, while xMoney’s Greg Siourounis emphasized the effort to unify traditional finance with decentralized innovation.
What’s Next for Sui?
This card launch isn’t the final destination. According to the announcement, further expansions are planned, including U.S. market entry and enterprise-grade services, which will be revealed at the upcoming Sui Basecamp conference later this year.
The timing couldn’t be better. Sui’s native token, SUI, recently surpassed a $15 billion market cap, ranking 12th among all cryptocurrencies. With this new virtual payment card, Sui is not just growing in value—it’s becoming a practical part of the evolving digital economy.
