Sui Rallies Nearly 50% in a Week as Institutional Staking Tightens Supply

Sui recorded a strong rally this week, climbing nearly 50% in just seven days. The sharp move came alongside a surge in trading activity and growing expectations around new network developments.

The coin rose from about $0.94 to an intraday high of $1.41. At the same time, trading volume increased significantly, jumping from roughly $200 million to more than $2.5 billion. The spike reflects heightened investor participation and renewed interest in the network.

Institutional Staking Reduces Circulating Supply

A major factor behind the rally was a sharp reduction in available supply. SUI Group Holdings staked all of its roughly 108.7 million SUI tokens, valued at about $143 million.

This move effectively removed a large amount of tokens from circulation. Reduced supply, combined with rising demand, helped push prices higher over the week.

Market participants viewed the staking decision as a strong institutional signal. It reinforced confidence in the long-term positioning of the network.

Payment Partnerships Strengthen Real-World Use Case

Sentiment also improved following new partnership developments. African payments company Paga announced plans to collaborate with the Sui network.

The focus is on cross-border payments and stablecoin-based financial services. This expands Sui’s positioning beyond speculative trading into real-world payment infrastructure.

Investors reacted positively to the possibility of broader adoption. It added another layer of support to the ongoing rally.

Planned Fee-Free Transfers and Privacy Features

Technical upgrades also contributed to bullish expectations. Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun confirmed plans for fee-free stablecoin transfers.

The network is also working on privacy-focused transaction features. These upgrades aim to improve efficiency, usability, and user protection. Such developments are expected to enhance Sui’s competitiveness in the Layer-1 sector. They also strengthen their appeal for payment-focused applications.

Short-Term Outlook Shows Overheated Conditions

Despite strong gains, short-term technical indicators suggest caution. RSI has risen to 82.5, signalling overbought conditions, while Sui is trading above its upper Bollinger Band, pointing to potential overheating.

If support at $1.22 holds, the price may retest $1.40. However, a breakdown below this level could trigger a drop toward $1.10.

Mid-Term Outlook Remains Constructive

The mid-term outlook for Sui remains moderately positive, supported by ongoing institutional staking that continues to reduce circulating supply.

However, broader market conditions still pose challenges. Bitcoin dominance above 58% is limiting capital flow into altcoins. If Sui maintains support in the $1.10–$1.15 range, a move toward $1.55 is possible. A break below this zone could trigger a decline toward $0.95.

Long-Term Outlook Depends on Adoption and Supply Structure

Long-term strength is tied to structural improvements in the ecosystem. Reduced circulating supply, payment integration, and lower transaction costs all support future demand.

However, Sui still trades below its 200-day moving average at $1.33. This means a full trend reversal is not yet confirmed. If the price stabilizes above $1.33, a move toward $1.80 becomes possible. Failure to hold may return the asset to the $0.90–$1.00 range.

The recent Sui rally is driven by a combination of institutional staking, rising trading activity, and expectations of real-world payment adoption. While short-term conditions appear overheated, long-term fundamentals continue to show gradual strengthening.
