- Tether launches QVAC, a local AI assistant prioritizing privacy.
- It also strengthens USDT reserves with gold, Bitcoin, and U.S. Treasury bills.
Tether is stepping into the AI space with QVAC, its first decentralized AI assistant designed to prioritize privacy, local processing, and user control. The move positions Tether at the forefront of combining blockchain philosophy with artificial intelligence.
AI on Your Device, Not the Cloud
CEO Paolo Ardoino showcased QVAC running entirely on a standard laptop. He demonstrated the assistant assigning tasks in Asana using natural language commands. Unlike most AI tools that rely on cloud servers, QVAC performs 100% local inference and reasoning, ensuring no data is sent to external servers. This approach aligns with crypto principles, emphasizing privacy, user control, and decentralization.
The system leverages the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables QVAC to connect to multiple services and add new skills without altering its core model. Ardoino explained that AI decisions are increasingly critical, but current infrastructure is fragile, opaque, and invasive, making local, decentralized solutions increasingly valuable.
Modular Architecture and Infinite Intelligence
QVAC’s modular design allows developers to build applications using small, composable components, while its peer-to-peer networking facilitates direct device-to-device communication. This scalable architecture could support trillions of AI agents, creating what Tether calls an Infinite Intelligence swarm.
The company plans a consumer app, QVAC Workbench, for local AI processing, alongside an upcoming open-source release aimed at engaging developers and expanding the decentralized AI ecosystem.
Tether Expands Assets Behind USDT
While investing in AI, Tether continues to strengthen its flagship stablecoin, USDT, now holding a market capitalization of $184 billion. Between September 2024 and November 2025, Tether increased high-risk assets like gold and Bitcoin in its reserves from 17% to 24%, while U.S. Treasury bills decreased from 81% to 75%.
With over 530 million users and $122 billion in U.S. Treasury bills backing USDT, Tether ranks among the top global holders of government debt. The company also expanded its holdings in gold and became the third-largest shareholder in Adecoagro, Argentina’s leading producer of milk and rice.
A New Era for Decentralized AI
QVAC represents Tether’s push to merge AI innovation with crypto philosophy, offering local processing, privacy, and extensible applications. Tether is pioneering a new era of unlimited intelligence, where finance, blockchain, and AI converge in a single ecosystem.
