Tether USDT Wallet Freeze Locks $515M as Tron Takes the Heaviest Hit

  • Tether froze about $515 million in USDT over 30 days, with most activity on Tron.
  • The data shows rising enforcement, with Tron carrying most blacklisted addresses and frozen funds.

A major wave of wallet freezes involving Tether (USDT) has locked around $515 million over the past 30 days. The latest on-chain data shows that enforcement activity is increasing across major blockchain networks, with most of the impact concentrated on TRON (TRX).

Tron dominates frozen USDT activity

Data from BlockSec shows a clear imbalance in where enforcement is taking place. As of May 7, 2026, 371 addresses were blacklisted across Ethereum and Tron.

Most of the activity sits on Tron, with:

  • 329 blacklisted addresses on Tron
  • 42 blacklisted addresses on Ethereum

The value of frozen funds shows a similar gap. About $506 million in USDT was frozen on Tron, compared to roughly $8.73 million on Ethereum. This confirms that Tron currently carries most of the enforcement load.

BlockSec data shows a growing enforcement trend

BlockSec tracks wallet freezes, blacklist actions, and asset restrictions across major blockchains. Its data shows that enforcement activity is becoming more frequent and easier to track on-chain.

Earlier figures from the same tracker show:

  • Over 4,000 blacklisted addresses in 2025
  • Around $1.26 billion in total USDT was frozen that year

This highlights that wallet freezes are not rare events but part of an ongoing enforcement system.

Separate investigation adds context

On-chain investigator ZachXBT highlighted a separate case linked to DSJ Exchange and BG Wealth Sharing. The platform allegedly collapsed after taking more than $150 million from users and blocking withdrawals.

He also reported that over $92 million moved across chains in a short period between late April and early May. This triggered coordinated action involving exchanges, Tether, and law enforcement.

As a result, about $38.4 million was frozen during the investigation process.

Why Tron is under the most pressure

Tron processes a large share of USDT transfers due to its low fees and fast transaction speed. This makes it one of the most active networks for stablecoin movement.

However, high usage also increases exposure to monitoring and enforcement actions. The latest data shows that most blacklist activity is now centered on Tron, reflecting where transaction volume is highest.

Tether’s enforcement policy

Tether (USDT) has previously frozen funds linked to fraud, sanctions evasion, and illegal activity. In past cases, it has worked with global law enforcement agencies and compliance partners to restrict suspicious wallets.

The company has also frozen large amounts of USDT tied to sanctioned entities, including a $344 million freeze linked to Iranian-related wallets under Operation Economic Fury.

These actions show that wallet freezes are part of a broader compliance framework rather than isolated events.

Conclusion

The latest BlockSec data shows that $515 million in USDT has been frozen in one month, with most of it concentrated on TRON (TRX).

With more than 80% of blacklisted addresses on Tron, the network has become the main focus of enforcement activity, highlighting how stablecoin controls are increasingly shaping blockchain liquidity in real time.
