XRP Price Hits $1.87 as Exchange Supply Drops Eight-Year Low, Bulls Eye $2 Breakout

XRP IMAGE

XRP saw its price climb to $1.87 as exchange-held balances dropped to their lowest level since 2018. According to Analytics, roughly 1.6 billion XRP are now held on exchanges, down about 57% since October. This trend indicates that more tokens are moving into long-term storage rather than sitting ready to be sold, reinforcing a tightening supply narrative.

The shrinking exchange supply is a key development because it can amplify price moves when demand picks up. However, XRP continues to face strong resistance between $1.88 and the psychological $2.00 level, which has repeatedly capped rallies in the past.

Technical Factors and Trading Range

During the latest session, XRP advanced steadily from $1.84 to $1.87, posting higher lows and holding a relatively narrow $0.05 range. Trading volume rose to around 32 million XRP, about 50% above the daily average, as genuine buying interest drove the price higher rather than thin liquidity.

Technical indicators paint a mixed picture. Some oscillators show bullish divergence, hinting that momentum is building even as the price struggles to break key resistance levels. On the downside, support remains intact at $1.82–$1.83 for short-term positioning, with a broader floor at $1.77 serving as the next meaningful demand pocket.

What Traders Should Watch

The near-term battle for XRP lies between the tightening supply and the clearly defined resistance ceiling. A sustained push above $1.88 could open the path to $1.95, with $2.00 acting as the ultimate breakout trigger. A successful reclaim of $2 would likely attract more buyers and force sellers to reposition, potentially driving stronger upward moves.

If XRP fails to hold the $1.82–$1.83 support, it could test the $1.77 floor, and buyers may step in at the next larger support area. Shrinking exchange balances and steady price action keep the longer-term outlook constructive, but traders should remain cautious until XRP decisively breaks above $1.88–$2.00.

The Takeaway

XRP’s recent gains highlight a market grappling with a limited available supply and persistent resistance. While the price shows signs of steady recovery, a breakthrough above $2 remains the critical step for confirming a bullish trajectory.
