- Ripple reduced XRP supply pressure with its escrow move, supporting a price rise.
- The XRP Ledger 3.3.0 update aims to improve network utility.
Ripple reduced XRP’s monthly supply impact by locking 700 million tokens back into escrow after its scheduled release, leaving only 300 million XRP available for circulation. The move helped XRP climb 1.8% to $1.08 as the XRP Ledger prepares for version 3.3.0, which will introduce revised network features.
Ripple Cuts XRP Supply Release After Monthly Escrow Unlock
Ripple completed its regular 1 billion XRP escrow release but returned 700 million XRP into new escrow contracts. This left a much smaller amount of XRP entering the market compared with previous monthly unlocks.
The reduced release lowered concerns about immediate selling pressure, especially as August has historically seen increased focus on Ripple’s escrow activity. The move also came as XRP traded higher while Bitcoin remained mostly unchanged, showing that XRP’s price action was linked more closely to Ripple’s supply decision.
XRP rose to $1.08 following the escrow adjustment, with traders watching whether the lower supply impact can help the price move higher. The decision also drew attention from XRP supporters who viewed the smaller release as a positive factor for market stability.
XRP Price Watches $1.09 Resistance Level
At press time, XRP was trading around $1.06, holding above its daily pivot point. The next resistance sits near the 20-day EMA at $1.09, with a breakout potentially sending the price toward the Fibonacci 38.2% retracement level at $1.13.
However, XRP needs stronger trading volume to confirm a move beyond resistance. If the price falls below $1.06, the next important support level remains around the recent swing low of $1.05.
For now, XRP remains within a consolidation range as traders wait for a clearer direction. A sustained move above $1.09 could improve the short-term outlook, while a rejection may keep XRP under pressure.
XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Update Brings New Network Features
The XRP Ledger is preparing for the release of version 3.3.0, which will introduce five proposed amendments for validator approval.
The update includes revised versions of Batch Transactions and Permission Delegation features. Both features were previously removed after researchers discovered security issues that could have allowed unauthorised transactions or excessive fee usage.
The new release aims to bring these features back after addressing the earlier vulnerabilities. If approved, the update could improve XRP Ledger’s ability to support tokenised assets, delegated access, and global settlement applications.
Ripple’s escrow decision and the upcoming XRP Ledger upgrade give traders new factors to monitor. While XRP’s next move will depend on market demand and trading activity, the reduced monthly release and network improvements could influence sentiment in the coming weeks.
