XRP Under Fire: Renewed Rivalries in Crypto
The cryptocurrency space is no stranger to rivalries, and XRP has once again found itself in the crossfire. Over recent weeks, supporters of Chainlink (LINK) and Litecoin (LTC) have intensified their criticisms, sparking debate over whether XRP still has a place in the future of digital assets.
Yet, despite the noise, XRP continues to show strength, supported by strong rebuttals from its community and positive performance metrics.
Chainlink’s Institutional Rise Fuels XRP Criticism
Chainlink’s rapid expansion into institutional partnerships has fueled claims that it has overtaken XRP as the preferred “banking coin.” Partnerships with SWIFT, Mastercard, and the U.S. Department of Commerce have boosted its profile as the leading oracle provider in tokenized markets.

The Commerce Department deal, which integrates key economic data into blockchain networks—but notably not the XRP Ledger—fueled suggestions that XRPL was intentionally excluded. Critics implied this was due to trust concerns.
However, XRP validator Vet clarified that XRPL’s absence was purely due to infrastructure, not bias, since neither Chainlink nor Pyth currently support XRPL.
XRP Proponents Push Back
Attorney Bill Morgan dismissed claims that investors are rotating from XRP to LINK, citing chart data showing XRP’s resilience and outperformance. Meanwhile, former Ripple developer Matt Hamilton reminded critics that XRP and Chainlink serve different, complementary purposes: XRP focuses on payments and settlement, while Chainlink powers oracle services.
As Hamilton put it, “They don’t compete, they are complementary.”
Litecoin Joins the XRP Criticism
Litecoin recently added fuel to the fire when its official account mocked XRP’s adoption narrative. The jab triggered swift backlash from the Ripple community, with attorney Morgan pointing out Litecoin’s declining market relevance compared to XRP’s growing influence in policy circles, including representation at a White House crypto roundtable.
Community influencers like Digital Asset Investor also called the attacks nothing more than fear campaigns, stressing that Ripple remains fundamentally strong and continues to attract interest.
Industry Leaders Weigh In
Even beyond crypto rivalries, Ripple drew skepticism from SWIFT’s Chief Innovation Officer, Tom Zschach, who suggested that surviving lawsuits does not guarantee adoption.
In defense, Osama E. of Sharkforce Consulting argued that XRP’s extensive legal battles have in fact made it one of the most tested and trusted networks in the industry.
XRP’s Performance Speaks Volumes
Despite the criticisms, XRP has delivered impressive results. Over the past year, XRP surged 403%, far outpacing LINK (+111%) and Litecoin (+71%). Even after a correction to $2.82, Ripple remains one of the top-performing digital assets of 2025, reinforcing its relevance in the evolving crypto market.
