Zcash Price Targets $1,698 After Breaking Trendline Ahead of NU7 Upgrade

Zcash (ZEC) climbed 9% on Tuesday and held above $1,250 on Wednesday as traders looked toward the upcoming NU7 network upgrade. Improving ETF inflows and rising network activity are also supporting the recovery, with the price now approaching a key resistance level that could open the way toward $1,698.

Zcash NU7 Upgrade Set for November 6

Zcash is preparing for its NU7 mainnet upgrade, scheduled for November 6 at 00:50 GMT. The upgrade aims to reduce block confirmation times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, making transactions three times faster.

It will also retire the legacy v4 transaction pool, affecting ZEC held in the Sprout shielded pool. Another major change is the introduction of the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM), which will allocate 60% of fees to the NSM Value Balance and direct the remainder to miners.

These changes come as activity on the Zcash network continues to grow. Network transactions increased by 21% to around 710,000 over the past three months, while Real Economic Value (REV) rose nearly 85% to $204,000.

The figures point to increased network usage ahead of the upgrade, although sustained demand will be important for supporting ZEC’s price beyond the initial recovery.

Zcash ETF Inflows Show Signs of Recovery

Institutional demand has also shown signs of improvement after several weeks of heavy outflows. Zcash-focused ETFs recorded $1.61 million in inflows on Tuesday, according to SoSoValue data. This followed $10.45 million in outflows on Monday, marking a sharp reversal in daily investment flows.

Weekly outflows have also declined, falling from $93.56 million in early October to $19.15 million last week. While institutional selling has not disappeared, the slowdown suggests that selling pressure may be easing.

A sustained improvement in ETF flows could help support ZEC’s recovery. However, continued outflows would remain a risk if institutional investors resume selling.

Zcash Price Forecast: Can ZEC Break Above $1,296?

Zcash traded near $1,260 on Wednesday, holding above its 50-period and 200-period exponential moving averages (EMAs) on the four-hour chart at $1,181 and $1,230, respectively.

The recent 9% rally also pushed ZEC above a descending resistance trendline, which now acts as potential support around $1,183. This breakout strengthens the short-term bullish outlook, provided the price remains above the key support zones.

The next major hurdle is $1,296, a resistance level linked to the September 9 high. A decisive break above this level could open the way toward $1,698, the peak recorded on September 26.

Technical indicators also favor buyers. The RSI is near 65, signaling strong buying pressure without yet reaching the commonly used overbought threshold of 70. Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) continues to trend upward, supporting the bullish outlook.

However, ZEC still needs to clear the $1,296 resistance level before a move toward $1,698 becomes a stronger possibility.

Key Support Levels to Watch

On the downside, the $1,230 level is the first important support, aligning with the 200-period EMA. A break below this level could expose the next support zone around $1,183 to $1,181, where the former resistance trendline and 50-period EMA converge.

Holding above this zone would help preserve the current bullish structure. A deeper decline below these levels could weaken the recovery and delay another attempt at $1,296.

For now, Zcash’s price direction depends on whether buyers can sustain the recent rebound and push through resistance. The November 6 NU7 upgrade and improving ETF flows provide potential catalysts, but a confirmed breakout above $1,296 remains the key signal for a possible rally toward $1,698.
