Bitcoin Price Alert: 5 Events That Could Trigger Volatility This Week

  • Bitcoin price faces potential volatility this week as Big Tech earnings, oil prices, and key US economic data shape market sentiment.
  • Jobless claims, business activity, and inflation expectations could also influence BTC prices ahead of the Fed’s next meeting.

Bitcoin faces another uncertain week after a sharp market correction pushed its price to a monthly low. With major US economic data, Big Tech earnings, and oil prices in focus, several events could influence BTC price movements over the coming days.

1. Meta and Tesla Earnings Could Shake Bitcoin

Wednesday’s earnings reports from Meta and Tesla could influence Bitcoin through changes in investor sentiment. IBM and other major companies are also scheduled to report results.

Recent selling across technology stocks has raised concerns about high valuations and spending on artificial intelligence. The Nasdaq 100 recorded its worst weekly performance since April 2025, while semiconductor stocks also suffered heavy losses.

If Meta and Tesla deliver disappointing results or issue weak forecasts, investors could reduce exposure to risky assets. Bitcoin could face further selling pressure as traders respond to a broader market downturn. Strong earnings, however, could help restore confidence.

2. Rising Oil Prices Could Put Pressure on BTC

Oil prices will also be in focus on Wednesday, when the US Energy Information Administration releases its weekly petroleum report.

Higher oil prices can increase inflationary pressure and complicate the Federal Reserve’s efforts to bring inflation under control. If energy costs rise sharply, markets could begin pricing in interest rates staying elevated for longer.

Such expectations could weigh on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as higher borrowing costs often reduce demand for riskier investments. A decline in oil prices could ease some of these concerns.

3. US Jobless Claims Will Offer Fresh Labor Market Signals

Thursday’s US jobless claims report will provide another update on labor market conditions ahead of the Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 meeting.

Although the figures may have a limited direct impact on Bitcoin, they could influence expectations for monetary policy.

A weaker labor market could strengthen expectations for interest rate cuts, potentially supporting risk assets. Conversely, stronger employment conditions could give policymakers more room to maintain restrictive rates if inflation remains high.

The market reaction will depend on how the figures compare with expectations and what they suggest about the broader US economy.

4. Manufacturing and Services PMI Data Could Shift Market Sentiment

Friday’s release of October flash manufacturing and services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data from S&P Global will provide an early look at US business activity.

The figures could also reveal whether companies continue to face significant price pressures.

Stronger business activity combined with rising input costs could reinforce concerns about persistent inflation. This could put pressure on Bitcoin if investors expect the Federal Reserve to maintain higher interest rates.

Weaker activity and easing price pressures could produce a different reaction, particularly if markets interpret the data as increasing the likelihood of monetary easing.

5. US Inflation Expectations Remain a Key Risk for Bitcoin

The University of Michigan will publish its final October consumer sentiment and inflation-expectations figures on Friday.

Preliminary data showed one-year inflation expectations rising to 4.7% from 4.6%. Five-year expectations also increased to 3.5% from 3.4%.

These figures matter because inflation expectations can influence household spending, business decisions, and the Federal Reserve’s policy outlook.

Last week’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) reports already showed that inflation remains elevated. If Friday’s figures confirm that consumers expect prices to keep rising, Bitcoin could face renewed pressure from concerns about interest rates.

Bitcoin Traders Face a Data-Heavy Week

The Federal Reserve is now in its blackout period ahead of the October 27–28 policy meeting, limiting the flow of public commentary from policymakers.

That leaves corporate earnings, economic releases, and oil prices among the main factors that could shape market sentiment this week.

Bitcoin has already experienced a sharp correction, but the latest decline does not guarantee that further losses are coming. The direction of the next move may depend on whether incoming data eases inflation concerns or reinforces expectations that interest rates will remain high.

Traders will therefore be watching Wednesday’s earnings reports and oil data, followed by Thursday’s jobless claims and Friday’s PMI and inflation-expectations releases, for clues about Bitcoin’s next move.
