Bitcoin Price Analysis: BTC Could Hit $80,000 as Market Turns Bullish

Bitcoin traders are increasingly optimistic, betting on a rally above $80,000 as market sentiment turns bullish. After a period of uncertainty, derivatives data show investors are reducing crash hedges and positioning for potential gains.

Options Data Shows Rising Confidence

Nick Forster, founder of on-chain options platform Derive.xyz, shared that options pricing currently implies a 35% chance Bitcoin (BTC) exceeds $80,000 by the end of June. This signals a clear shift from earlier market caution in February when BTC’s options skew dropped to extreme negative levels.

Options skew reflects the pricing difference between calls and puts. Calls, which allow bets on price increases, are now more expensive than puts, pointing to a bullish tilt. Meanwhile, demand for puts—which protect against price declines—has eased, suggesting traders feel less need for protection.

Traders Willing to Take Downside Risk

A surge in put writing across exchanges indicates traders are taking on more downside risk in exchange for premiums. Forster explained, “Despite earlier fears of a catastrophic crash, derivatives markets suggest these concerns may have been exaggerated.”

BTC’s short-term skews have recovered from -25% in February to about +10% today, showing a shift away from aggressive hedging and toward confidence in steadier or rising prices.

Bitcoin Approaches $70,000

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading near $70,000, up roughly 5% for the month. On-chain data suggest many traders expect BTC to reach $80,000 between June and September, driven by renewed optimism and options market activity.

With sentiment turning bullish, market participants will closely watch derivatives trends and options activity. The recent shift highlights a growing confidence in Bitcoin’s near-term prospects, setting the stage for potential rallies.
