Ethereum News Today: Whales Drive Bullish Momentum
Ethereum’s wealthiest investors have ramped up their accumulation phase, boosting their holdings by 14% since April, according to on-chain data from Santiment. Collectively, these top wallets now control more than 5.54 million ETH, a shift that analysts believe could propel Ethereum (ETH) toward the long-awaited $5,000 milestone by 2025.
Why Ethereum Whales Are Accumulating
The buying spree began in April, coinciding with ETH’s rebound from yearly lows of $1,400–$1,500 to above $3,000. Data shows that wallets holding between 1,000 and 100,000 ETH flipped from net sellers to steady buyers, scooping up 400,000 ETH in August alone.
However, not all whales are aligned. Mega whales (10,000+ ETH) drove August’s rally by adding over 2 million ETH but have since paused accumulation. In contrast, large whales (1,000–10,000 ETH) have re-entered the market aggressively, supporting ETH’s current range of $4,400–$4,600.
If both whale groups continue buying, Ethereum’s rally could gain explosive momentum. But if accumulation slows, ETH risks consolidating further.
Institutional Flows and Ethereum ETFs
Beyond whale activity, institutional adoption continues to rise. Spot Ethereum ETF net flows jumped from $2.3 billion in April to $13.7 billion in September, reflecting growing investor appetite for ETH exposure. This influx of institutional capital strengthens the bullish outlook, especially with global ETFs boosting liquidity.

Ethereum Foundation Restructure Reinforces Confidence
Whale buying also coincided with significant leadership changes at the Ethereum Foundation in April. Aya Miyaguchi was promoted to President, with Tomasz Stańczak and Hsiao-Wei Wang stepping in as co-executive directors.
The restructuring reaffirmed Ethereum’s focus on layer-1 scaling, blobspace expansion, and user experience—key pillars for its upcoming Pectra upgrade. For long-term investors, this governance reset underscored Ethereum’s resilience and innovation-driven roadmap.
ETH Price Prediction: Triangle Breakout Targets $5,260
From a technical perspective, ETH is consolidating within a symmetrical triangle pattern on the three-day chart. Historically, these setups act as continuation patterns, with a breakout aligning with the prior uptrend.
If ETH breaks above resistance, analysts project a measured move toward $5,260—a level consistent with both technical targets and bullish whale activity.
