- Hyperliquid hit $1.2 billion in HIP-3 open interest as traders engage in tokenized oil, gold, silver, and equity futures.
- Its community-driven platform boosts decentralized trading adoption.
Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 market has reached a record $1.2 billion in open interest, driven by traders engaging in tokenized futures on oil, gold, silver, and equities. This surge highlights the growing adoption of decentralized platforms for community-driven price discovery.
Record-Breaking Growth on HIP-3
Since its debut on October 13, Hyperliquid’s permissionless HIP-3 perpetual futures market has steadily grown, reaching $1.2 billion in open interest. This figure represents the total value of all active contracts, underscoring both rising adoption and heightened activity across the platform.
Unlike many crypto-focused exchanges, Hyperliquid’s top markets are dominated by traditional assets. Only 7 of the top 30 markets are crypto pairs, while futures on oil, gold, silver, and equities have taken center stage, reflecting traders’ appetite for real-world asset (RWA) exposure.
Commodities and Equities Lead the Way
The standout contracts include the tokenized equity futures contract XYZ100-USDC, which boasts $213 million in open interest, followed closely by the oil-focused CL-USDC at $169.8 million. CL-USDC also recorded a 24-hour trading volume of $1.62 billion, leading activity on the platform. Other top contracts include Brent crude, the S&P 500, silver, and gold futures.
This surge comes amid volatile oil markets. Murban crude hit $103 per barrel over the weekend due to Middle East tensions disrupting tanker flows, while Brent and WTI benchmarks briefly spiked above $110 before settling back into the low triple digits. Such volatility highlights the appeal of decentralized futures for price discovery outside regular exchange hours.
Community-Powered Market Creation
Hyperliquid’s unique design empowers users to launch markets themselves. By staking 500,000 HYPE tokens as a security deposit, anyone can deploy a perpetual futures contract, making market creation more accessible than traditional platforms. This community-driven approach has expanded trading opportunities and increased liquidity for tokenized RWAs.
The platform’s rise illustrates the growing role of decentralized exchanges in bridging traditional finance with crypto technology. Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 market reached $1.2 billion in open interest, driven by tokenized futures for oil, gold, silver, and equities. As more traders use these markets, Hyperliquid continues setting benchmarks for innovation and adoption in decentralized trading.
