Pi Network is expanding the utility of Pi Desktop with two new self-hosted apps available through SoloHost. The latest additions are OpenClaw and the Atlassian MCP Server.
The apps were introduced alongside Node 0.6.2. They give Pioneers more options for running AI tools and other useful software on their own computers.
OpenClaw Brings Local AI to Pi Desktop
OpenClaw is a local AI agent designed to help users complete different tasks. It can run with a local AI model on supported computers or connect to external models such as ChatGPT and Claude.
When OpenClaw uses a local model, users can keep more of the processing within their own computing environment. Its memory is also created and stored locally.
SoloHost adds another layer of containment. OpenClaw runs inside a container that limits its default access to the wider computer. This reduces unnecessary access to local files and other system resources.
Users can still give the agent specific permissions when needed. However, those permissions remain tied to the access they choose to provide.
SoloHost also makes installation easier. Users do not need to manually configure all the required server or Docker components.
OpenClaw joins Hermes as another local AI agent available through Pi Desktop. The two apps offer different approaches to AI assistance, giving users more choice.
Atlassian MCP Server Connects AI With Jira
The second addition targets developers, product teams and other professionals who use Jira.
The Atlassian MCP Server allows users to run an MCP server on their own computer or another machine. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, allows compatible AI tools to communicate with external services such as Jira.
This setup can help teams connect AI tools with their Jira workflows. It can also reduce reliance on Atlassian’s hosted MCP option when quota or reliability limits become an issue.
The local server can work with several MCP-compatible tools. These include Cursor, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Codex.
This could make it easier to use AI for organizing and managing Jira-based workflows.
SoloHost Expands Pi Desktop Utility
The two new apps show how SoloHost can support more than blockchain-related tasks. It is becoming a way for users to discover and run self-hosted applications through Pi Desktop.
This also creates more opportunities for developers to bring useful software into the Pi ecosystem. According to Pi Network, the ecosystem includes more than 420,000 Pi Node runners, alongside additional Pi Desktop users.
More self-hosted applications could increase the practical value of computers already running Pi software. It also gives users more ways to use local computing resources for AI and other workloads.
However, SoloHost is still in beta and uses an open, permissionless publishing system. Users should review individual applications carefully before installing them and accept the risks involved.
