Inside Pi Network’s Three-Phase Plan for Mainnet Migration and Token Distribution

  • Pi Network has launched a three-phase Mainnet migration plan based on mobile mining data to ensure fair token distribution.
  • With over 12 million users already migrated, the network is preparing for its Open Network launch and ongoing transitions.

The Pi Network has unveiled a major update detailing its roadmap for Mainnet migration and a clear breakdown of its token distribution — marking a significant step forward for one of the most unique crypto projects to date.

With over 12 million users, known as “Pioneers,” already migrated, the network is inching closer to launching its long-anticipated Open Network. This isn’t your typical crypto rollout. Instead of relying on quick airdrops, Pi Network uses years of mobile mining data to transition users fairly and securely. This unique approach could redefine how decentralized platforms grow and onboard communities.

A Three-Phase Strategy to Migrate Millions

The roadmap is built around three structured phases designed to support gradual migration and maintain integrity across the network:

1. Completing the First Migrations
This phase involves distributing verified mining rewards across categories like core mining, lockup bonuses, node earnings, and utility usage. It ensures early adopters and contributors are fairly rewarded.

2. Second Passes with Referral Bonuses
The next wave focuses on referral-based rewards. However, users must complete their KYC verification before these bonuses are unlocked — reinforcing Pi’s commitment to identity validation and security.

3. Ongoing Periodic Migrations
To support scalability, the final phase will see continuous monthly or quarterly migrations. This allows the network to grow sustainably while integrating newer users over time.

The team also clarified that the “Transferable Balance” shown in the app is only an estimate. Actual calculations are far more detailed, considering each user’s historical mining performance.

Tokenomics That Prioritize the Community

Pi Network has capped its total supply at 100 billion tokens, with a strong focus on community rewards:

  • 65% for mining rewards
  • 10% to the foundation
  • 5% for liquidity
  • 20% allocated to the Core Team

This structure ensures that the majority of Pi’s value flows back to its user base, while also supporting development and long-term ecosystem growth.

What Comes Next?

Pi Network has already surpassed its original target of 10 million Mainnet migrations and continues to accelerate. The team will keep migrating users even after launching the Open Network to ensure everyone gets a fair chance to transition.

As one of the largest grassroots crypto experiments, Pi Network’s step-by-step rollout could set a new standard for how future Web3 platforms onboard users at scale.
