  • Ripple donates $25 million in RLUSD stablecoin to support small businesses and veteran career programs in the U.S.
  • The initiative aims to expand access to funding, create jobs, and showcase stablecoins’ potential for social impact.

Ripple Uses Stablecoins for Social Impact

Ripple (XRP) announced a $25 million donation in its U.S. dollar–backed stablecoin, RLUSD. The funds will support small businesses and veteran career programs across the U.S. They will be distributed to Accion Opportunity Fund and Hire Heroes USA. These nonprofits help entrepreneurs and military veterans access funding and job opportunities quickly.

This donation is Ripple’s second major contribution in 2025. So far, the company has given over $50 million to charitable causes, including education. By using RLUSD, Ripple can deliver funds faster and more transparently. This also demonstrates how stablecoins can drive social impact.

Why Small Businesses and Veterans Matter

Small businesses are crucial to the U.S. economy. They employ nearly half of the workforce and generate 43.5% of GDP. However, many struggle to secure growth capital. Veterans also face challenges. Each year, about 200,000 transition to civilian life, and 80% do not find jobs immediately.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse explained that funding and training programs can remove barriers. These programs help small businesses and veterans thrive. They also create long-term economic growth.

A Ripple Effect on the Economy

Ripple expects this donation to generate a $1.25 billion lending impact. This will be done through the Ripple Digital Leap Forward program. Entrepreneurs may receive up to $500,000 in funding along with training.

Hire Heroes USA will use its share to assist 14,000 veterans in finding jobs. They will also launch fintech-focused career programs. Overall, Ripple projects that the combined economic impact could reach $1 billion.

Timing and Strategy

The donation comes after Ripple partnered with Spanish bank BBVA to provide digital asset custody technology. By linking philanthropy to RLUSD, Ripple shows stablecoins’ real-world value. This also strengthens Ripple’s role in U.S. digital finance.

In conclusion, Ripple’s donation highlights how blockchain can create social and economic change. It offers a model for modern, transparent charitable giving.
