  • Ripple is acquiring BC Payments Australia to secure an Australian Financial Services License, enabling full payment services in the country.
  • APAC payments volume nearly doubled in 2025, contributing to Ripple’s $100 billion total processed across 60 markets.

Ripple is expanding its presence in Australia by acquiring BC Payments Australia to secure an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL). The move allows Ripple to offer its complete payments stack through a single integration, strengthening its reach in the Asia-Pacific region.

Faster Market Access Through Acquisition

Instead of applying for an AFSL from scratch, Ripple is acquiring BC Payments Australia, a licensed company, for quicker market entry. The license will enable Ripple to handle onboarding, compliance, funding, foreign exchange, liquidity management, and payouts seamlessly in Australia.

Fiona Murray, Ripple’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific, said the AFSL will help scale Ripple Payments across the region. Australian clients already using Ripple include Hai Ha Money Transfer, Stables, Caleb & Brown, Flash Payments, and Independent Reserve.

APAC Payments Volume Doubles

Ripple reported that its payment volume in Asia-Pacific nearly doubled year-over-year in 2025. This growth contributed to a total processed volume of $100 billion across 60 markets, reflecting increasing adoption of Ripple’s solutions.

Joining Project Acacia

Ripple is joining Project Acacia, a digital-asset infrastructure initiative led by the Reserve Bank of Australia. The project focuses on strengthening digital asset infrastructure, aligning with Ripple’s mission to simplify cross-border payments.

XRP traded around $1.38 at the time of the announcement, up 0.3% on the day and 1.7% over the week, showing modest gains following the news.
