Ripple Partners With Convera to Launch Faster Global Payments Using Stablecoins

  • Ripple partners with Convera to improve cross-border payments using stablecoins for faster and more efficient settlement.
  • The system allows businesses to send money globally without direct exposure to digital assets.

Ripple has taken another step toward reshaping global payments after announcing a new partnership with Convera. The move is designed to improve how businesses send money across borders, using stablecoins to speed up settlement while keeping transactions simple and familiar.

The collaboration connects Ripple’s blockchain infrastructure with Convera’s global payment network, aiming to deliver faster, more reliable international transfers without forcing companies to directly handle digital assets.

Ripple and Convera Align Payment Systems

The partnership brings together two different strengths. Convera will handle the full payment experience for its enterprise clients, while Ripple will provide the backend infrastructure that powers liquidity, settlement, and currency conversion.

Convera is already a major player in global B2B payments, processing over $170 billion annually. This scale gives the partnership a strong foundation, allowing blockchain-based settlement to be introduced into existing financial workflows without disrupting how businesses operate.

Convera CEO Patrick Gauthier said the decision was driven by growing demand for faster and more flexible payment solutions. He noted that Ripple’s position in the digital asset space made it a strong fit for the company’s long-term strategy.

Stablecoin Model Targets Faster Settlement

At the center of the partnership is a system known as the “stablecoin sandwich” model. In this setup, transactions start and end in traditional fiat currencies, while stablecoins are used in the middle to move funds across borders.

This approach allows businesses to benefit from blockchain speed without taking on direct exposure to cryptocurrencies. It also reduces reliance on traditional banking routes, which often involve multiple intermediaries and delays.

By replacing these layers with a blockchain-based transfer process, payments can be completed faster and with improved efficiency. This is especially important in regions where correspondent banking systems are slow or limited.

Ripple’s SVP of Product, Aaron Slettehaugh, said businesses are increasingly looking for better control over how their funds move globally. He added that this integration offers a more flexible and efficient way to manage cross-border payments.

Ripple Strengthens Its Institutional Strategy

The Convera partnership is part of Ripple’s broader push into institutional finance. Rather than focusing on retail users, the company continues to expand its network among large enterprises and payment providers.

This move comes at a time when competition in the stablecoin sector is increasing. Ripple recently joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program, further strengthening its position in global payments infrastructure.

Despite the announcement, some details remain unclear. The companies have not disclosed which stablecoin will be used or when the service will be rolled out to clients.

Still, the direction is clear. Ripple is steadily building a system that blends traditional finance with blockchain technology, aiming to make cross-border payments faster, simpler, and more accessible for businesses worldwide.
