- Ripple re-locked 700 million XRP after its November $1.25 billion escrow release, leaving 300 million XRP outside escrow.
- The remaining tokens do not confirm selling, as investors monitor Ripple’s wallet balances and December’s unlock.
Ripple has returned 700 million XRP to escrow following its November 1 token release, leaving 300 million XRP outside its time-locked reserves. The move reduces the net supply released this month after the company initially unlocked 1 billion XRP worth approximately $1.25 billion.
The latest transactions show that Ripple continues to follow its established escrow mechanism, which releases XRP monthly and locks a large portion back into new contracts. However, the remaining 300 million XRP has attracted attention as investors assess potential changes in the token’s circulating supply.
Ripple Locks 700 Million XRP in Three Transactions
On-chain records show that Ripple created three new escrow contracts between 17:38 and 17:42 UTC on November 1, several hours after releasing 1 billion XRP through two separate transactions.
The company placed 100 million XRP in the first contract, followed by 500 million XRP in the second. A third transaction locked another 100 million XRP, bringing the total returned to escrow to 700 million XRP.
The new contracts also extend Ripple’s escrow schedule into 2029. The first two contracts, containing 600 million XRP combined, are scheduled to become eligible for release on June 1, 2029. The remaining 100 million XRP has a release date of July 1, 2029.
Following these transactions, approximately 31.1 billion XRP remains locked across 99 Ripple-controlled escrow contracts.
The latest cycle leaves Ripple with a net release of 300 million XRP for November, matching the amount left outside escrow during the September and October cycles.
Does the Remaining 300 Million XRP Increase Selling Pressure?
The 300 million XRP left outside escrow has raised questions about whether Ripple could increase its token sales. However, an escrow release does not automatically mean the tokens have entered the market.
Once an escrow contract expires, the designated recipient can access the tokens. Actual selling requires additional transactions, such as transfers to cryptocurrency exchanges or other trading platforms.
This distinction is important when assessing the potential effect of Ripple’s monthly unlocks on XRP’s price. The amount released from escrow does not necessarily represent the amount available for immediate selling.
Ripple introduced its escrow system in 2017 to make XRP supply more predictable. The mechanism allows the company to release a predetermined amount each month while returning unused tokens to new time-locked contracts.
Historical records show that Ripple released 12 billion XRP over the past 12 monthly cycles and returned 8.4 billion XRP to escrow. This represents a 70% re-locking rate, leaving a cumulative net release of 3.6 billion XRP.
However, the cumulative reduction in locked supply does not establish how much XRP has entered public circulation or been sold.
XRP Investors Monitor Escrow Balances and December Unlock
The latest escrow activity comes as XRP continues to face pressure from the broader cryptocurrency market downturn. The token was trading near $1.26 on November 3, following a difficult October for digital assets.

Institutional demand has also provided limited support for the price. XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have accumulated approximately $1.81 billion in inflows, although the value of their underlying holdings has declined.
Meanwhile, Ripple’s remaining escrow balance has become an important supply metric for investors. Monthly releases and subsequent re-locking can influence expectations about how much XRP may become available over time.
With 300 million XRP remaining outside escrow after November’s cycle, investors will likely continue monitoring Ripple-controlled wallet balances and exchange transfers for signs of increased selling activity.
The next monthly escrow release in December will provide another opportunity to assess how much XRP Ripple makes available and how much it returns to escrow.
