- Stellar is expanding in Asia through a new TopNod wallet integration focused on real-world assets and stablecoins.
- Despite growing institutional adoption, XLM’s price weakness highlights ongoing distribution and market confidence challenges.
Stellar is deepening its expansion into Asia through a new wallet integration announced at Consensus Hong Kong, as the network works to turn infrastructure progress into real-world adoption.
The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) revealed that TopNod, a non-custodial wallet focused on tokenized real-world assets and stablecoins, will integrate with the Stellar network. The move targets users across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, regions where blockchain-based payments and asset tokenization continue to gain traction.
While the announcement strengthens Stellar’s ecosystem, it comes at a time when XLM’s price performance remains under strain, raising questions about whether adoption efforts can translate into renewed investor confidence.
TopNod Integration Signals Focus on Utility
TopNod’s wallet introduces key sharding and Trusted Execution Environment technology, removing the need for traditional seed phrases. This design aims to improve security and accessibility, particularly for users unfamiliar with complex self-custody practices.
Unlike wallets centered on speculative tokens, TopNod emphasizes stablecoins and tokenized assets. This aligns closely with Stellar’s long-term strategy of positioning itself as infrastructure for payments, remittances, and compliant asset issuance rather than short-term trading activity.
However, TopNod is still a relatively new platform with limited brand recognition outside Web3 circles, meaning adoption will depend heavily on distribution and partnerships.
SDF Bets on Asia and Emerging Markets
In an interview at the event, Stellar CBO Raja Chakravorti described Asia Pacific as a critical growth driver. SDF plans to expand anchor networks in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam over the next year, alongside deeper engagement with financial institutions in the region.
Stellar has already partnered with Singapore-based MarketNode and is in discussions around tokenizing money market funds. On-chain data shows Stellar’s real-world asset value surpassing $1 billion over the past year, while DeFi TVL has also grown.
Despite this progress, XLM has fallen more than 70% from its 2025 high. Transaction counts remain steady, but lower average transaction values suggest everyday payment use cases persist as larger capital flows remain cautious.
2026 Brings a Distribution Challenge
Chakravorti acknowledged that tokenization alone is no longer enough to stand out.
According to SDF, the next phase focuses on distribution, ensuring tokenized assets reach users through trusted channels. This is especially important as competing networks like Solana, Polygon, and Ethereum continue to attract institutional attention.
Privacy, Compliance, and What Comes Next
Stellar’s recent X-Ray upgrade introduced native zero-knowledge cryptography, designed to balance privacy with auditability. SDF argues this flexible approach is essential for meeting regulatory expectations across diverse Asian markets.
Looking ahead, SDF confirmed its 2026 Meridian conference will take place in Abu Dhabi. The TopNod integration is expected to roll out in markets including Singapore, Japan, and the Philippines, though timelines remain unclear.
For Stellar, the foundation is in place. Whether it can solve the distribution puzzle may determine XLM’s long-term trajectory.
