  • Tron: Lightcycle Run at Walt Disney World has ended its Virtual Queue, resulting in surprisingly short wait times compared to other popular attractions.
  • Factors such as the time of year and the ride’s height requirement contribute to these lower wait times, making it more accessible to guests.

Tron: Lightcycle Run is the latest addition to Walt Disney World’s array of attractions. Like many new rides, it initially featured a Virtual Queue system. This system required guests to secure a Boarding Group via the Disney World app, often disrupting their plans. Securing a slot in the Virtual Queue for Tron was nearly impossible when it first opened. However, starting Monday, this changed dramatically.

After over a year of operation, Tron: Lightcycle Run has dropped its Virtual Queue system. Now, guests can either pay for an Individual Lightning Lane to skip the line or simply get in line. Surprisingly, even though Tron is the newest attraction at the world’s most popular theme park, the wait times are impressively short.

Shorter Than Expected Wait Times

One might expect that the newest ride at Disney World, fresh off ending its Virtual Queue, would have long wait times. However, this has not been the case. On Monday morning, Lightcycle Run saw a brief spike in wait times right after rope drop, but this quickly tapered off. As of now, Tron’s wait time is 35 minutes, compared to the 45 minutes for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

In comparison, attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have wait times exceeding an hour. It’s remarkable that the newest ride in the park is experiencing such short waits, possibly explaining why the decision was made to end the Virtual Queue.

Why Tron’s Wait Times Are Low

Several factors contribute to Tron’s surprisingly low wait times. Firstly, Walt Disney World generally experiences lower crowds this time of year as schools are back in session. For instance, Avatar: Flight of Passage currently has a 45-minute wait time, much lower than usual during peak seasons.

Another reason might be the ride’s specific audience. Tron: Lightcycle Run is one of the more extreme thrill rides at the resort, featuring a significant height requirement. This restriction means fewer people are eligible to ride, contributing to shorter wait times.

A Positive Change for Guests

Overall, this shift is excellent news for Disney World visitors. A manageable standby line means more guests can experience Tron: Lightcycle Run with minimal frustration. This accessibility ensures that the newest and one of the best rides at Disney World remains an enjoyable experience for everyone.
