  • Cardano has released Node 11.1.1, beginning preparations for the Dijkstra hard fork.
  • The upgrade could introduce Plutus V4, Nested Transactions, and Linear Leios, with testing expected to begin later in 2026.

Cardano has started preparing for its next major network upgrade with the release of Node 11.1.1. The update marks the first step toward the Dijkstra hard fork, which is expected to introduce several changes to Cardano’s core infrastructure.

Node 11.1.1 is mainly a maintenance release, but it lays the groundwork for the upgrades planned in later versions. Cardano developers will use upcoming releases to move the network toward wider testing of the Dijkstra changes.

Node 11.1.1 Starts the Dijkstra Rollout

The latest node release removes legacy tracing from Cardano and addresses memory-related issues. These changes are intended to improve the node before developers begin testing the larger features planned for Dijkstra.

The rollout will continue with Node 11.2 and Node 11.3. These releases are expected to support broader testing and prepare the network for the hard fork.

Cardano also plans to launch DijkstraNet, a public testnet that will allow developers and users to test the upgrade before it reaches the main network.

Dijkstra Brings Major Cardano Changes

The Dijkstra hard fork will introduce several significant features to Cardano. One of the main changes is Plutus V4, which will bring new capabilities to Cardano’s smart contract platform. The upgrade will also introduce Nested Transactions, aimed at expanding how transactions can be structured and processed.

Another major development is Linear Leios. The technology is part of Cardano’s broader effort to improve network performance and transaction processing.

These features make Dijkstra one of the more important upgrades on Cardano’s development roadmap.

Dijkstra Hard Fork Could Arrive in Early 2027

Cardano has not set a final date for the Dijkstra hard fork. The current target window runs from December 2026 to March 2027.

The timing will depend on technical readiness and approval through Cardano’s governance process. Developers will first need to complete testing and address any issues discovered during the rollout.

Cardano is also planning another major upgrade called Peras, which is currently expected around the middle of 2027.

For now, Node 11.1.1 represents the beginning of the Dijkstra rollout. The upcoming node releases and DijkstraNet testing should provide a clearer picture of when the upgrade can move to the main network.
