- Ethereum is trading near the key $2,342 resistance level as ETF outflows and rising Binance reserves create market caution.
- Analysts expect ETH to remain between $2,275 and $2,400 unless a breakout confirms the next direction.
Ethereum continued to trade in a tight range on Monday as investors monitored a major resistance level near $2,342. The asset hovered around $2,337 during the latest session, showing limited movement despite rising exchange liquidity and growing institutional caution.

The current setup reflects a market caught between short-term bullish support and weakening confidence from larger investors. While Ethereum remains above key short-term moving averages, rising exchange reserves and heavy ETF outflows are preventing a stronger breakout.
Ethereum Faces Pressure From Rising Binance Reserves
Ethereum reserves on Binance increased by roughly 320,000 ETH between May 5 and May 10. The rise pushed Binance’s share of exchange-held Ethereum close to one-quarter of the total market supply held on trading platforms.
Higher exchange reserves often suggest that more investors are preparing to trade or sell their holdings. This can increase market liquidity, but it may also raise short-term selling pressure if demand weakens.
The increase in available supply comes at a time when institutional demand appears softer. Several large transactions from whales and asset managers into exchange and custody accounts added to concerns that investors are becoming more cautious.
Spot Ethereum ETFs Record Major Outflows
US spot Ethereum ETFs also showed signs of weakening investor confidence. Fidelity’s FETH recorded a single-day outflow of more than $103 million, while another session saw withdrawals exceeding $62 million.
These outflows point to reduced institutional participation in the near term. Investors appear to be taking a more defensive position as Ethereum struggles to establish a clear trend above resistance.
The ETF withdrawals also reflect uncertainty across the broader crypto market, where traders remain sensitive to macroeconomic conditions and shifting risk appetite.
Ethereum Technical Indicators Show Mixed Signals
Ethereum continues to trade above its short-term moving averages, including the SMA-20 at around $2,321 and the SMA-50 near $2,235. These levels provide near-term support and suggest that buyers are still active in the market.
However, ETH remains below the SMA-200 near $2,663, showing that the broader trend has not fully turned bullish.
The immediate resistance level sits near $2,342, aligning with the Ichimoku Kijun level. A confirmed move above this area could strengthen bullish sentiment and push Ethereum closer to the $2,400 region.
Several technical indicators are currently sending conflicting signals. The MACD still supports buying conditions, while the ADX points to a weak overall trend. At the same time, the Stochastic RSI is signaling possible overbought conditions after recent price gains.
This combination suggests that Ethereum is in a neutral phase, where volatility remains moderate but conviction from either buyers or sellers is still limited.
ETH Price Could Stay Between $2,275 and $2,400
Analysts expect Ethereum to remain within a narrow trading range over the next several days. Current projections place ETH between $2,275 and $2,400 unless stronger market catalysts emerge.
A breakout above the $2,342 resistance level may trigger renewed buying activity and improve the short-term outlook. If that happens, Ethereum could test the upper end of the projected range.
On the downside, failure to hold support near $2,275 could expose ETH to heavier selling pressure and increase downside risks.
Institutional Activity May Decide Ethereum’s Next Move
Market analysts believe institutional positioning will play a major role in Ethereum’s next direction. Rising exchange reserves and ETF outflows suggest caution, but they do not completely rule out a bullish reversal if broader market sentiment improves.
For now, Ethereum remains stuck between strong resistance and stable support. Traders are closely watching whether buyers can finally push ETH above $2,342 or if the market enters another phase of sideways consolidation.
