- IOTA expanded globally in Q3 2025 with new tech and government partnerships.
- It launched Starfish and advanced trade digitization projects.
IOTA is closing 2025 on a strong note. The network has achieved major milestones in technology, partnerships, and global adoption. From celebrating its 10th anniversary at TOKEN2049 Singapore to building new collaborations with governments, IOTA continues to prove its relevance in the evolving blockchain space.
IOTA Technological Advancements
IOTA’s third-quarter progress report, titled “New releases. New integrations. Real-world traction,” highlights major steps forward in its ecosystem.
The deployment of Starfish, a new non-sharded protocol tested on DevNet, stands out as a breakthrough. It offers scalability and flexibility while remaining energy-efficient and decentralized — addressing key limitations found in traditional blockchains.
The launch of IOTA Names on Testnet made user interaction simpler. Instead of long wallet addresses, users can now send tokens and manage identities using short, readable names like dom.iota. This improvement enhances accessibility for both developers and regular users.
Other significant updates include:
- IOTA Notarization, which introduced secure record-keeping methods for both fixed and editable data.
- IOTA Hierarchies, enabling trust delegation between people, devices, and organizations.
- Wallet support for Keystone, an air-gapped hardware wallet.
- The launch of Switchboard, a next-generation oracle protocol.
- GiveRep, a new tool that adds reputation and trust metrics to on-chain apps.
These advancements strengthen IOTA’s technical foundation while improving usability and transparency across applications.
Expanding Global Collaborations
IOTA’s partnerships are also growing rapidly. The Trade Worldwide Information Network (TWIN) project achieved its first proof of concept this quarter. It also secured a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) to link digital identities of real-world assets with GLEIF’s verification system.
Another major project, the Trade and Logistics Information Pipeline (TLIP), achieved an integration milestone with the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Supported by the World Economic Forum, TLIP is designed to modernize international trade through secure, data-sharing frameworks that connect all players in the supply chain.
IOTA Growing Presence in Southeast Asia
IOTA also focused on adoption and education across Southeast Asia. The team sponsored Malaysia Blockchain Week, hosted a hackathon for university students, and toured five campuses to promote Web3 innovation. At Coinfest Bali, IOTA engaged directly with industry regulators and developers, further strengthening its regional network.
A Strong Finish Ahead
With its expanding partnerships, technical upgrades, and community outreach, IOTA’s third quarter has set the stage for a powerful finish to 2025. The Foundation’s efforts to merge real-world utility with blockchain innovation continue to push the project toward a more connected, decentralized future.
