- Ondo launches seven tokenized portfolios on Solana, including three strategies developed by BlackRock.
- The products give non-U.S. investors on-chain exposure to stock and ETF baskets.
Ondo Finance has expanded its tokenized investment offerings to Solana, introducing seven on-chain portfolios that give eligible non-U.S. investors exposure to traditional financial markets. The launch, announced on October 29, includes three investment strategies developed by BlackRock.
The expansion allows investors to access diversified baskets of tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) through individual blockchain-based tokens. Instead of purchasing and managing several underlying assets separately, investors can hold a single token representing an entire investment portfolio.
Ondo Launches Seven Tokenized Portfolios on Solana
The new lineup covers different investment strategies, including income generation, growth opportunities and thematic investments.
Among the available products are portfolios tracking the Magnificent Seven technology stocks, crypto-related assets and leading artificial intelligence companies.
Ondo also confirmed that three of the seven strategies were developed by BlackRock specifically for its portfolio offerings. This brings established investment strategies into blockchain-based financial products.
The launch extends Ondo’s Intelligent Portfolios beyond its earlier deployments on Ethereum and BNB Chain.
Ondo reported that its portfolios on those two networks surpassed $45 million in total value locked (TVL) within their first weeks. However, this figure relates to the earlier deployments and does not represent assets launched on Solana.
How Ondo’s Tokenized Investment Products Work
Each portfolio is represented by a single on-chain token that provides economic exposure to a basket of Ondo’s tokenized securities, known as Ondo Stocks.
Smart contracts manage portfolio allocations and scheduled rebalancing. This allows the underlying holdings to adjust according to predefined investment strategies without requiring investors to manage every position individually.
The tokens are also transferable on-chain, giving investors greater flexibility in how they hold and move their portfolio positions.
However, tokenization does not remove the legal and financial requirements attached to traditional securities. The underlying assets remain subject to their respective pricing, liquidity and redemption arrangements.
Solana Expansion Comes With Liquidity and Access Restrictions
Although blockchain trading can operate around the clock, the underlying stock markets do not. This difference creates potential pricing gaps, particularly when traditional exchanges are closed or market liquidity becomes limited.
Investors may also face thin secondary-market liquidity, tracking differences and price movements that do not accurately reflect the underlying portfolio’s value.
The products are restricted to eligible investors in permitted jurisdictions and are not available to U.S. investors under the launch announcement.
Furthermore, BlackRock’s involvement in developing three strategies should not be interpreted as a guarantee of investment performance, liquidity or returns.
What Ondo’s Solana Launch Means for Tokenized Finance
The expansion highlights the growing connection between traditional financial products and blockchain infrastructure.
By bringing tokenized investment baskets to Solana, Ondo is extending access to diversified investment strategies through a single on-chain asset. The move also adds to the range of traditional financial exposures available within the blockchain ecosystem.
However, the launch’s longer-term impact will depend on actual adoption rather than the number of products introduced.
Investors will be watching Solana-specific assets under management, trading activity, liquidity depth and portfolio tracking accuracy to assess how the products perform.
For now, Ondo’s expansion represents another step in bringing traditional investment strategies onto blockchain networks, while leaving important questions about liquidity, accessibility and long-term performance.
