  • Pi Network has launched an RPC server on Testnet to support smart contract development and testing.
  • Developers and node operators can now interact with the blockchain more efficiently and prepare for Mainnet deployment.

Pi Network has released a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) server on its Testnet, marking a key step in enabling scalable smart contract development. This new infrastructure supports developers in testing, building, and preparing smart contracts for future Mainnet deployment.

The Role of the RPC Server in Pi’s Ecosystem

The RPC server acts as a bridge between applications and the Pi blockchain. By sending requests and receiving responses, developers can interact with smart contracts more efficiently.

It supports two main types of interactions:

  1. Read-only calls (no fees required) – Developers can query blockchain data such as balances, account states, or application-specific information without paying gas fees. These operations do not alter the blockchain state and execute instantly.
  2. State-changing transactions (require fees) – Transactions that modify blockchain data, such as executing contract logic or updating records, still require standard transaction processing and fees.

Benefits for Developers

With the RPC server, Pi Network enables developers to:

  • Build responsive applications that rely on real-time blockchain data.
  • Test and simulate smart contract behavior safely in a controlled environment.
  • Integrate backend services and user interfaces with Pi blockchain efficiently.

Try the RPC Server on Testnet

Developers can explore Pi Network’s RPC server on Testnet to check how it works. They can test the server’s status and performance to ensure it is running correctly. This allows developers to safely experiment with smart contract interactions and prepare for deployment on Mainnet.

The server’s performance and reliability on Testnet will guide its future rollout to Mainnet.

Node Operators Can Deploy Their Own RPC Servers

Businesses and node operators can also run dedicated RPC servers, either for internal purposes or for public access. This flexibility allows for tailored solutions that support Pi smart contract applications at scale.
