  • Pi Network has released Pi Desktop 0.6.3 with improved SoloHost app discovery and reliability.
  • The update also adds developer tools and fixes several SoloHost issues.

Pi Desktop version 0.6.3 has introduced several SoloHost updates aimed at making community apps easier to discover, manage and run. The release also adds new tools for developers and fixes issues affecting SoloHost login sessions and app displays.

The update marks a naming change as well. Starting with version 0.6.3, these releases will be identified as Pi Desktop versions rather than Pi Node versions.

Pi Desktop 0.6.3 Improves SoloHost App Discovery

One of the main changes in Pi Desktop 0.6.3 is a new ranking system for community SoloHost apps.

Apps are now ranked based on how many people are currently running them. This gives Pioneers a clearer way to find apps that are actively being used within the SoloHost community.

The update also adds a new “My Apps” section to the SoloHost home page. Developers and publishers can use the section to view apps they have published and manage them from one place.

These changes make the SoloHost interface more useful for both people looking for applications and developers managing their own projects.

SoloHost Gets a Readiness Check and Better Troubleshooting

Pi Desktop 0.6.3 also introduces a SoloHost app readiness probe. The probe checks whether an application is available and responding properly before it is accessed.

The change is designed to reduce intermittent 502 errors that can occur because of connectivity or other issues. By checking app readiness, SoloHost can better determine when an application is ready to serve users.

Developers and technical users also get more options for troubleshooting. They can now open an app’s installation folder and use the standard docker compose up and docker compose down commands through the command line.

This provides another way to start and stop SoloHost containers outside the SoloHost interface and can help developers investigate problems with their applications.

New Developer Resources and Bug Fixes

Pi Desktop 0.6.3 introduces an initial SoloHost Developer Contract through a repository designed to help developers build SoloHost applications.

The repository is structured in a way that can also make it easier for AI agents to understand the project and assist developers during the app-building process. This could give developers another resource when creating and troubleshooting SoloHost applications.

The update also fixes a SoloHost login issue that could cause a login token to expire when Pi Desktop remained open for several days.

Another fix addresses long image names. Previously, long names could extend beyond their display container instead of wrapping correctly.

Overall, Pi Desktop 0.6.3 expands the tools available around SoloHost while making its app discovery and management features more practical. As more self-hosted applications are added, the improvements could make it easier for Pioneers to find and run apps while giving developers better resources for building and maintaining them.

The changes also support SoloHost’s broader role within Pi Desktop, allowing computers running Pi software to support self-hosted applications alongside their blockchain-related functions.
