Ripple Integrates Hyperliquid to Expand Institutional Access to DeFi Perpetuals

  • Ripple Prime now lets institutional clients trade on Hyperliquid’s decentralized derivatives platform, bridging traditional finance with DeFi.
  • This integration simplifies on-chain trading by allowing margining and risk management like conventional exchange products.

Ripple is taking a significant step in merging traditional finance with decentralized markets. Its institutional trading platform, Ripple Prime, now allows clients to access on-chain derivatives through Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetual futures network. The integration represents Ripple’s first direct entry into decentralized trading venues, signaling a broader push beyond its payment and infrastructure roots.

Bridging Traditional and Decentralized Finance

The Hyperliquid integration enables Ripple Prime’s institutional clients to cross-margin DeFi positions alongside traditional assets such as FX, fixed income, OTC swaps, and cleared products. This setup allows positions to be managed under a single counterparty framework with centralized risk controls and consolidated margin.

For institutions, this is a game-changer. Previously, trading on decentralized venues required managing wallets and interacting with smart contracts, creating operational barriers. With Ripple Prime, on-chain derivatives can now be traded and margin-managed much like conventional exchange products, reducing friction and streamlining workflows.

“At Ripple Prime, we are excited to continue leading the way in merging decentralized finance with traditional prime brokerage services, offering direct support to trading, yield generation, and a wider range of digital assets,” said Michael Higgins, International CEO of Ripple Prime.

Hyperliquid Gains Institutional Traction

Hyperliquid, built on its own layer-1 network, has quickly become one of the largest on-chain perpetuals platforms. Its decentralized infrastructure now supports institutional-style trading and market oversight, providing a bridge for firms seeking exposure to DeFi derivatives without leaving the familiar framework of prime brokerage.

Following the integration announcement, HYPE, Hyperliquid’s token, saw a 5% increase despite ongoing crypto market challenges. Analysts note that the move strengthens HYPE’s positioning in institutional trading workflows, although it does not directly create new use cases for XRP or the XRP Ledger.

Looking Ahead for Ripple Prime

While Ripple has not disclosed additional DeFi integrations, industry insiders anticipate further expansions in 2026 as prime brokers compete to attract institutional crypto flows. The Hyperliquid integration underscores Ripple’s evolving strategy: moving from payment solutions to comprehensive market access and execution, bridging the gap between legacy finance and the decentralized economy.

Ripple Prime’s entrance into on-chain derivatives highlights a growing trend: traditional financial institutions are increasingly seeking structured, secure access to DeFi markets without the complexity of direct blockchain operations.
