- The Pi Network core team moved 500 million Pi coins internally, worth over $80 million, sparking community discussion.
- Major token unlocks in February, totaling 193 million Pi, could impact the coin’s price amid recent selling pressure.
The Pi Network community is closely watching the core team after it moved 500 million Pi coins, valued at over $80 million. This development comes amid ongoing token unlocks and a recent dip in Pi’s price, keeping investors on high alert.
Internal Transfers, Not Market Sales
On-chain data reveals that the massive transfer originated from a wallet labeled PI Foundation 1. Interestingly, the coins didn’t hit exchanges but were instead shifted to another internal wallet carrying the same label. This suggests that the movement is part of internal allocation rather than a public sale.
The Pi Core Team released a major update as the transfers occurred: over 16 million Pioneers completed Mainnet migration, and the team cleared around 2.5 million previously blocked users, making them eligible to migrate. They also announced that more than 700,000 users can soon apply for KYC verification and are testing a new rewards distribution system for KYC validators.
Pi Price Under Pressure
Pi coin has faced persistent selling pressure, falling more than 25% since early 2026. Currently trading around $0.1590, Pi’s market cap stands at roughly $1.4 billion. Investors are closely monitoring the coin as major token unlocks approach, potentially affecting supply and price dynamics.
According to Pi Scan data, more than 193 million Pi tokens are scheduled to unlock in February alone, representing the largest planned unlock through October 2027. On average, over 7 million Pi coins could enter circulation daily, roughly $1.1 million in daily supply, raising concerns about short-term price volatility.
What’s Next for Pi Network?
The internal transfers by the Pi Core Team, coupled with upcoming token unlocks, indicate preparation for broader network activity and user migration. While the moves do not signal immediate market sales, investors remain cautious as unlocked tokens increase available supply.
With the Pi Network expanding Mainnet participation and implementing new KYC reward systems, the coming months could prove critical for the project. Market watchers will be paying close attention to price movements and token distribution, as February’s large-scale unlocks could influence both trading activity and overall investor sentiment.
